The 1-X robots going all 'white power' is a twist I did not see comming from the new futurama writers.

He originally wanted Will Smith, which basically would have made it unwatchable. Luckily for us, Will Smith was too busy pimping his kids into cult member mini celebrities, so Jamie Foxx has made us this nice movie with him killing everyone.

Hated Kill Bill, loved Inglorious Bastards, I thought the writing there was pretty amazing. No idea if this wilk be good or not, but Tarantino is consistently good enough to deserve being watched.

The best examples of Tarantino's good dialogue was stolen wholesale from other sources: Jules' biblical smackdown from Pulp Fiction, Bill's out-of-place Superman speech from Kill Bill, etc.

That said, he has a superb eye for visuals and innovates ideas from smarter people into more compelling stories. On artistic grounds, It's hard not to appreciate his oeuvre.

What is it that makes it so hard for people to give Tarantino credit for things? He used an analogy about Superman, and on the basis that he didn't write Superman, he therefore stole the analogy?

Pretty much, yes Cena. It's not going to be Deathproof or anything, but it still looks like a pretty fun take on the spaghetti western. It'll look great at the least, and it'll probably have some good acting.

Totally ambivalent on this one.

On one hand, I feel like Tarantino is a fanboy hack who consistently recreates the films he loves with none of the charm of the originals... all the while ripping off dialogue, tropes and scenes. It's not a homage if your mainstream film is copying an obscure one. It's theft.

On the other hand, it looks like a fun, well-paced film with Christoph Waltz. Plus, by complaining, I'm throwing in with Cena fucking Mark.

This is one of those rare moments where i agree with Cena. Tarantino is a Hack, writes shit for dialogue, steals stuff from old movies and calls them "homages" and did i mention what an awful writter he is? Seriously, "with a silent d..." no shit rental-store fuckwit? Why people worship this douche and his movies is beyond me. They are boring, painful to watch and half-assed imitations of better movies.

The man can shit all over his career from now until the day he dies...but what matters is he made Pulp Fiction. For better or worse, he won't capture that lightning in a bottle twice.

I would argue that while Tarantino might liberally swipe from old genre movies and dress it up all sexy at least the man has the balls to admit up front the films he's taking themes from.
Look at Star Wars (the good trilogy, not this new crap) and see Hidden Fortress (Kurosawa 1960)
Look at Toy Story and see A Christmas Toy (Jim Henson 1986)
Those are just 2 that I know from actually watching both the source and the 'homage', but there are many more such obvious influences.
Look at just about any movie and I'll bet you can trace a beeline through each one and spot the director's influences clear as day, if you know what movies they lifted themes & scenes from.
I give Tarantino respect for coming right out and name dropping the films he used as source material. Let's be honest, how many of you would have ever known anything about Lady Snowblood (1973) without Kill Bill?

I would cuz i'm a huge movie nerd, but sure, other's didn't knew about many of these old movies. Still, making a bad imitation of better movies is not exactly a good excuse to promote those old movies.

At least we can all agree that the guy writes awful dialogues.

I gotta agree with Riskbreaker.
In my experience, Tarantino fans want to look like real film buffs, so they gobble up his shit and spew forth the "homage" bull. But usually they won't bother trying to see the original, cuz that's not mainstream enough for their tastes.
Also, I think I might rather listen to an entire soundtrack of fart noises to Tarantino's dialogue.

I got pissed at Ridley Scott the first time I saw Planet of the Vampires. What a fucking hack.

Tarantino is a trillion times worse.

Its just Inglorious Basterds with Slave Owners in the place of Nazis. It'll have more over stylized rubbish, anachronistic music, and rambling dialogue.

Inglorius Basterds contained what seemed like eight hours of people sitting around and engaging in belabored circlejerky dialogue based on the ideas that:

A) The Nazis were bad people (duh, really, thanks I never would have realized that without QT to show me the way)
and
B) People should watch old movies (not that I disagree with the basic idea but not in the wanky way QT probably means)

I actually agree with cena_mark perhaps for the first time in my life, but I would probably love this movie when I was 14 years old, like all of his movies. That's who he makes movies for, so I'm not going to see it.

For the record, i think Jackie Brown is a well done flick, probably QTs truly good solid movie, maybe the source material helped? Still, nobody can come with a straight face and say that something like Kill Bill is a "fun" movie. It's fan-fiction 13 year old fantasy crap with bad acting, dull fight sequences and atrocious dialogue beyond belief.
