Well that was much harder to watch than I thought it was going to be.

simon666 - 2012-03-31

4:22+ is absolutely fucking obscene.

Also, needs a Lawrence O'Donnell tag.

Cena_mark - 2012-03-31

I can't believe that. Dude got thrown out of a flipping van, is clearly unconscious, and tons of cops start beating his ass. Cameras. Its even worse when cops do that shit on their own dash cams. Shows how above the law they think they are.

Meerkat - 2012-03-31

They are not above the law. They ARE the law.

RocketBlender - 2012-04-01

The way that first cop rushes in to start beating on the completely motionless guy with such haste that he loses his balance and falls over really says something.

Is there a soundtrack-free version out there? My hearing isn't the best, and I can't hear most of the video over the music.

Dr Robot - 2012-04-01

The full video of that clip at 4:22 was on here at some point. This is edited. It doesn't show that the guy driving that van tried to run over a cop before crashing. I'm no big supporter of the police (and fucking hate how quickly they pull out tasers these days) but it'd be hard not to beat the ever-loving shit out of someone who legitimately just tried to kill me.

RocketBlender - 2012-04-01

I'll admit that I've never been in this situation, so I don't know how I'd react, but I like to think I'd have the decency to throw down the club once the other guy is a motionless blob next to an upside down car.

Also, the other 7 or so cops have no excuse.

they'reforyou - 2012-03-31

Of course, by posting this on Poetv, Gommorrah had condemned all of us to late night shadow government police raids. The only way to possibly avoid this abuse of power is to not post a comment.

Oh, shit.

Konversekid - 2012-03-31

This is all disgusting. Worst part is that there are Conservatives that probably support the police in doing shit like this, yet are afraid that public healthcare gives the government too much power.

jangbones - 2012-03-31

That entire line of thinking...small government, preventing tyranny, all that business...is purely Republican messaging and completely hypocritical and disingenuous. Modern conservatives preach against impingement of their civil liberties yet have zero problem expanding the power of government if it serves their special interests.

FABIO - 2012-04-01

The heart of reactionaries has always been about tearing down anything that hinders setting up their own system of privilege and oppressing others.

pastorofmuppets - 2012-04-02

I think there's a communication issue here. Republicans think civil liberties are when corporations aren't regulated.

Meerkat - 2012-03-31

America!

dairyqueenlatifah - 2012-03-31

I watched two and a half minutes and had to stop. That was plenty.

RocketBlender - 2012-04-01

You really missed the worst of it. Seriously, at least go to 4:22

memedumpster - 2012-03-31

Not clicking play, there is no point in me deepening my already fathomless hatred of the police and cutting my life shorter with even more stress over how much this country fucking sucks. Five for pure evil.

Old_Zircon - 2012-03-31

Same. The real question, though,m is whether this stuff is happening more often now than it was a decade or two ago, or whether it was always going on but is just more visible now. My money's on the latter.

zerobackup - 2012-04-01

It for sure has been happening ever since there has been a hierarchy of power in society. Imagine the really bad shit that happens behind closed doors, no dashcams in interrogation rooms, or Guantanamo Bay.

fatatty - 2012-04-01

Fuck police bruality.

But seriously. All of these people should be in jail.

exy - 2012-04-01

But.. but... mommy always said the police were there to HELP me!

Gmork - 2012-04-01

The Police are just a government-funded gang. Even street gangs keep "order" in their territory, whatever the fuck that means moment to moment.

pastorofmuppets - 2012-04-02

Someone here once said that there are very scary people in prison, and we've hired a bunch of people who are only the tiniest bit less scary to keep them in there.

Jet Bin Fever - 2012-04-01

Too bad that the Congress will never act to reel in the power of the police and that police officers themselves don't -immediately- get fired after these events.
We need referees to watch the clips in those little sound booths on the side of the field and make a decision to fire them then and there.

chumbucket - 2012-04-01

What's next? Police police? This is goddamn depressing.

RocketBlender - 2012-04-01

Police Cops.

TeenerTot - 2012-04-02

And that's the end of that chapter.

Bisekrankas - 2012-04-01

"What you gonna do when they come for you"

Curl up to a ball and protect your head

Ninehells - 2017-03-31

My Father was a union contract negotiator. He was asked to negotiate a contract on behalf of a police union. After meeting with the membership, he called me, terror in his voice.

"Remember, if you get pulled over anywhere around here, just 'Yessir' and 'Nosir' because these motherfuckers are crazy."

Most of my interactions with cops over the years have taught me that the only reason my fool ass is still alive is because I'm white.

Miss Henson's 6th grade class - 2020-06-05

Increasingly relevant.
