PLEASE DON'T SUCK. please please please don't suck. There are such a precious few unruined things in my mind, and Lupin III is one of them.

boggy84 - 2012-03-27

if you had watched 90% of the post-series films/specials lupin would have been ruined for you a loooong time ago.

Jet Bin Fever - 2012-03-27

fair enough. I've just seen most of the early movies and TV show, so perhaps I should keep it that way.

Mancakes - 2012-03-27

Oh come on, the specials are generally better than the series.

I'm so fucking stoked about this.

Cena_mark - 2012-03-27

I see you enjoy cartoons Jetbin Beiber.

Jet Bin Fever - 2012-03-27

Yeah, but only if they came out before or during the time I was a child. The same goes for Anime, with the exception of Ghibli stuff.

Cena_mark - 2012-03-27

Well that makes it perfectly fine. You're so cool.

Jet Bin Fever - 2012-03-27

Thanks.

memedumpster - 2012-03-26

Please don't suck.

Caminante Nocturno - 2012-03-26

The last thing I saw Lupin in was the Lupin/Detective Conan crossover, which was great solely for being what it was.

I am REALLY looking forward to this.

MongoMcMichael - 2012-03-26

Sorely needs the classic Lupin theme, but otherwise...

Xenocide - 2012-03-26

Giving Fujiko her own show is one of the best ideas Japan has come up with in a long time.

sosage - 2012-03-26

Only a creative team with no soul could fuck up Lupin. The original concept is so stylized and awesome that the entire vehicle practically drives itself.

cognitivedissonance - 2012-03-26

^___^

SteamPoweredKleenex - 2012-03-26

I liked the original "Cliff Hanger" better.

Chalkdust - 2012-03-26

This teaser begins with the bold assertion that animation did not truly begin until the original Lupin the Third series.

This is the truth.

fedex - 2012-03-27

looks canon to me!

(PLEASE DONT SUCK)

kamlem - 2012-03-27

Spaceman Africa - 2012-03-27

What is this? I'm not caught up on my animes.

Hugo Gorilla - 2012-03-27

All you need to know is that Fujiko Mine has big tits.

SolRo - 2012-03-27

and a retractable boxing glove in her cooch.

Nikon - 2012-03-27

A bunch of thieves travel the world, steal treasures, and escape from the law.

MrBuddy - 2012-03-27

Nikon is right but here's a few more details.

Arsène Lupin was the main character in a series of books about a gentleman thief, who lived about 100 years ago. Arsène was so good at what he did he would announce his crimes before hand to his intended victims. Lupin III is his grandson who travels the world with a team of three companions, committing spectacular crimes that never quite work out. There's Daisuke Jigen the sharp shooter with the beard and hat, Goemon Ishikawa XIII the samurai with sword that can cut anything and femme fatale Fujiko Mine, who is featured in this video. Inspector Koichi Zenigata, the guy in the trench coat, chases them all over the world and just as they never quite managed to pull of their crimes, Zenigata never quite manages to keep the four of them in jail for any significant length of time.

There was a early 1970s TV series with just a few episodes, half of which were done by Hayao Miyazaki (Princess Mononoke, Spirited Away, Howl's Moving Castle, Ponyo, Arrietty) as more of an action series. Later came a late 1970s, slapstick, action-comedy series with over 150 episodes. Most everyone here posting comments is hoping for less goofy comedy and more dramatic action.

cognitivedissonance - 2012-03-27

Imagine James Bond, now imagine him as a chaotic neutral rogue and slightly more of a date rapist, and then give him a sense of humor.

sosage - 2012-03-27

We are? The original concept was a mix of comedy and action.

It's a cartoon/manga series about a pack of three professional thieves and a femme fatale. The chick and the thieves constantly work together on big heists, with one side always looking to screw the other. It's 60's-70's flat graphic style with a play on that era's Western, Spy and Adventure genres. Most of us nerd out over it because the concept is pretty timeless post 70's...and it's one of the few things in pop culture to avoid becoming completely ruined and soul-less.

Cowboy Bebop was partially a homage to this series, if that helps you form a clearer picture.

Redford - 2012-03-27

AND

(please don't suck)

Nikon - 2012-03-27

I never got into Lupin, but the art direction and character design for this look pretty awesome. I'll give this a watch when it's out.

orificespace - 2012-03-27

Lupin is like Japan's Superman or James Bond. Recognizable by all ages.

He's basically a condensed Scoundrel\Rogue\Anti-Hero type character

BHWW - 2012-03-27

Looks interesting, and Lupin was one of the early series that attracted me during my period of slightly-greater-than-my-current-minimal interest in anime - especially Castle of Cogliostro, The Mystery of Mamo and The Fuma Conspiracy - Farewell, Nostradamus, Gold of Babylon and the rest of the films and specials and direct-to-videos I have found to be varying degrees of "eh" or "well, it was OK, I guess."

Dumb Lamer - 2012-03-27

It's so cool to see modern animation that has pencil markings instead of clean computer lines.
