I've done this in my head so many times.

Dread Pirate Roberts - 2012-02-18

Other cyclist at :38 decides it's not worth it and runs away.

Mancakes - 2012-02-18

Seriously, why are bicyclists self-entitled assholes on the road? I ride motorcycles and neither I nor anybody I know or have seen even approach the levels of dickery that they pull off.

Good to see one get checked, as horrible as that is to say.

fractured - 2012-02-18

I like to think that bicyclists are just working it out. Drivers bend the rules where it suits them. We don't have to be puritanical about it all.

The Mothership - 2012-02-18

yea, that broken leg and broken wrist will teach him to ride slowly in front of a bus.

dairyqueenlatifah - 2012-02-18

Agreed. Now they just need to start plastering those fucking j-walkers.

EvilHomer - 2012-02-18

Well, he certainly won't do that again, that's for sure.

Chancho - 2012-02-18

Come to Vancouver where cyclists believe laws do not apply to them and they are also immune to injury.

paranex - 2012-02-18

He was stopped at an intersection and had only begun pedaling. It takes a second or two to build up momentum unless you're doing track stands. It's sort of a catch-22 in that situation, if you stop at stop lights, you end up slowing down traffic, but if you ride through it, people flip out like "OMGZ HOW DARE THOSE CYCLISTS DISOBEY TRAFFIC LAWS!!!!"

sosage - 2012-02-18

It's not really a catch-22 when bicyclists *that know how to share the road* ride with traffic, not passively against it. Like not putting their slow moving bike dead center in the lane and pretend they are a full sized car. Yes. Bikes are considered a vehicle and have a right to the lane, but there are compromises that ensure everything flows smoothly. This includes maybe riding to, *gasp!* one side of the lane so larger vehicles can pass.

...not that this is an excuse for attempted vehicular manslaughter.

Old_Zircon - 2012-02-18

I've seen bicyclists do some pretty douchey stuff but the worst of it doesn't even begin to approach the baseline level of douchery that a large portion of car drivers start from duting rush hour. MAybe I'm jsut biased because I've driven in Rhode Island and eastern Massachusetts a lot, though.

roughnready66 - 2012-02-18

Between bikes and cars one of them KILLS much more than the other. But it never ceases to amaze me that people feel entitled to rage against cyclists because apparently they are all scofflaws. It's that good ol windshield perspective. Exxon and GM have taught us that we are all entitled to a large car and a wide swath of asphalt devoid of pedestrians and cyclists.

Anaxagoras - 2012-02-18

Sosage: Your suggested compromise is exactly what cyclists are advised not to do, and it's even against the law in some jurisdictions.

Some cyclists may be entitled twerps, but the one in this video was probably doing everything correctly. (Depending on the laws of his jurisdiction, of course.)

Dr Robot - 2012-02-18

Mancakes, I'd like to break your fucking skull.

SolRo - 2012-02-18

entitled douchebags whining about entitled douchebags, a glorious day on PoETV

Wander - 2012-02-19

Yah, stupid cyclist things he's entitled to not being hit by a bus for following the law you FUCKING SHITHEAD.

You are a coward and a shithead and I hope you get hit by a truck.

sosage - 2012-02-19

You're right. I am just use to seeing what most cyclists do downtown...which is either utilize a bike lane or move to one side so traffic can flow around.

Mancakes - 2012-02-19

Can we still be friends? Go draw a hot bath and have some nice tea with it so you can calm down about the bad man that posted on the internet.

StanleyPain - 2012-02-18

People should be allowed to cause grievous bodily harm to each other on the road if they feel the other drivers and/or cyclists are not deserving to share the same roads! Nothing whatsoever could go wrong with this idea!

Void 71 - 2012-02-18

I know that vigiliante justice is looked down on around here, especially for something as minor as being a douchebag on a bike, but that was pretty sweet.

paranex - 2012-02-18

Except that this is in Britain where cyclists are encouraged to ride to the front of the lane, ahead of cars. That's why if you look in the foreground of the video, the next intersection has a bicycle symbol at the stop line. That's where the cyclist was standing at the beginning of the video.

TheQuakeSoldier - 2012-02-19

Thank fucking god I don't live in Europe. I get pissed at people only driving the speed limit. We're ENTITLED to go 5mph over motherfuckers.

SolRo - 2012-02-19

Be honest, you drive 25mph over the limit.

Void 71 - 2012-02-19

15mph over the limit is the norm where I live. Otherwise, you better be driving in the right lane.

muffinbutt - 2012-02-22

So apparently he took out the cyclist because the cyclist yelled at him for driving too closely behind:

dairyqueenlatifah - 2012-02-24

Holy shit, he really DID do it on purpose.
