This is a great way to exercise if you're interested in irreversibly damaging your rotator cuffs.

Screwtape - 2011-12-29 Kettle bells should have gone the way of that old-timey belt vibration machine and corn flake enemas.

spikestoyiu - 2011-12-29 Only those things don't work and kettlebells do.
|
badideasinaction - 2011-12-29 They may "work", but they're lousy bang for your fitness buck for strength training.
They're okay for endurance/conditioning work, but with the exception of the ridiculously expensive adjustable ones you can't add significant weight without buying another heavier (and overpriced) kettlebell. They give a great illusion of getting stronger, but most of that progression comes from the person getting the hang of eccentric movements, not muscle development.

spikestoyiu - 2011-12-29 Hey, I won't argue that they're in any way worth the money you're going to pay for them these days. Thankfully I have unlimited access to an insane number of them in varying weights as well as a homemade, adjustable kettlebell which I use mostly for swings.

I was cringing at the lady in purple's technique, and then I remembered this gem:

Oh, kettlebell people.

This is an extremely unsafe way to exercise.
