Mummering combines all the best parts of Halloween, Christmas, and heavy drinking. I wholly endorse it, and hope it's one tradition that eventually gets off the Rock.
Though when I first saw this, I thought maybe the Mummers were an inbred deepwoods clan that would occasionally descend upon the town to rob the locals and supply themselves for the winter. "Oh hooray, the Mummers have found my jewelry box!"
