I live in Alaska, I go hiking a lot, I think its best to hike strapped for the brown, black, and grizzly bears out there. And sure guns don't make people equal. They make them better. I own a gun and that makes me better than you.

For the record, I'm pretty much your average left wing, liberal, gay, communist, Muslim, socialist, and I have no problems with guns. I believe in the 2nd amendment and have no problem with people who own guns so long as they treat them with the respect the deserve and observe every single safety precaution. I myself own a gorgeous, very old pump action .22 and I greatly admire the craftsmanship and like to rarely target shoot. What I have a problem with in this country is "gun culture" and how it breeds fucktards who literally just want to inflict violence. They hope and pray for the day they I'll be able to whip out their 20 gun collection like some Death Wish wet dream and kill off every single bad guy. They just want to embrace violence and hurt things (thus, a lot of them go hunting, often times specifically just for the purpose of being cruel, (like blowing up prairie dogs with shotguns etc.). They also are almost always massively irresponsible with their weapons, usually leaving them lying around loaded or in a gun safe they paid 0 for but never actually lock. So, yeah....I think guns are an interesting hobby....but sadly most of the gun owners are shitheads with major compensation issues.

Stanly, That's why zombie films, books, and videogames are so popular too. As people there is a part of us that wants commit acts of crazy justified violence. Some gun owners want that and are ready for the zombie apocalypse or Dirty Harry shootout that they want to be the hero of.

Memedumpster, Of course the safest way to avoid bear attacks is to not surprise bears. A lot of the tourists wear bells, but I hear that only makes them curious. The best way is to talk. So if I hike alone I make noise and sing.
But also if the worst does happen I go to the range to make sure my shots are effective.
