Innocent Bystander - 2011-08-31
Really, Georgie, can't you come up with something new to endlessly tinker with?

Riskbreaker - 2011-08-31
Just keep feeding Lucas more money, he doesn't care. He might as well put the aliens from Indy 4 in a special cameo in this movie.
Also, as a side note, i went to check some SW boards to see if this real or not, and boy do many hate RLM/Plinkett's reviews with a burning passion.

CuteLucca - 2011-08-31 Really? All the SW nerds I hang out with (and considering I'm in the 501st, Mandalorian Mercs, and regularly attend the SW Celebration cons, is a LOT) LOVE the Plinkett reviews.
RocketBlender - 2011-08-31 I'm assuming the one who hate Plinkett were in that special group that Triumph the insult dog enjoyed mocking.
fatatty - 2011-08-31 Any Star Wars fan who openly defends the new trilogy from any form of criticism, and especially awesomely smart and funny criticism, should be shunned and stripped of their plastic lightsaber toys.
Riskbreaker - 2011-08-31 Hard to tell about a number, but the ones who hate Plinkett are very vocal, and yes, very childish. Their arguments are of the most idiotic type: "IF HE HATES THE MOVIES SO MUCH WHY BOTHER WATCHING THEM!"
EvilHomer - 2011-08-31 I never heard of Plinkett before now. Prompted by these comments, I googled it.
By the Force, I love you, poeTV!

It's truly astonishing how someone with literally millions of dollars at his disposal cannot even implement these changes (whether you agree with them or not) with any level of technical prowess.
For example, the puppet Yoda is being changed to CGI in the Phantom Menace blu ray in order to keep the look consistent with the other prequels. This makes total sense from a basic filmmaking standpoint. So..go look at the actual video clips of this being done. They're fucking awful in a way that is utterly jaw-dropping. It's like Lucas got kids playing with Renderman to do the fucking CGI...it looks WORSE than Yoda did in AOTC and ROTS. ILM used to the be the worldwide de facto standard in visual effects and dedication to the absolute best use of the craft....what the fuck happened? sweet jesus...you mean to tell me he couldn't get James Earl Jones to spend 10 seconds recording a scream, so he had to recycle the NOOOOO from ROTS?? I used to think Lucas was just delusional but after what's going on the blu-rays I'm convinced he just doesn't give one shit about Star Wars anymore. Not a single shit.
Cena_mark - 2011-08-31 Why have Vader even scream "No?" Less is totally more here.
Stopheles - 2011-08-31 "I love you."
"A-OOOOOOO-ga!! (ahem) I know."
garcet71283 - 2011-08-31 Rovin, I really think you are giving Lucas too much credit as a filmmaker if you are reading that deep into it.
CornOnTheCabre - 2011-08-31 honestly, I think he's just fucking with people who loved the original trilogy and hated the prequels.
i know it's a totally irrational train of thought and mostly something people say when they don't want to actually analyze a crappy movie, but the alternative is that he thought the original "NOOOOOOO!" was touching emotional catharsis as opposed to most over-the-top hilarious punchline in cinema history.
i don't care how many billions you've made, no one is that delusional
Rovin - 2011-08-31 That's not necessarily giving credit to Lucas, it could be completely accidental in effect.
Rovin - 2011-08-31 Waitaminute that can't be credited to Lucas at ALL as it was actually directed by RICHARD MARQUAND. that means he's revising SOMEONE ELSE'S FILMMAKING.
ASSHOLE.
1394 - 2011-08-31
Its true my dad works at Lucasfilm I've already seen this on blu-ray.

Cena_mark - 2011-08-31 Your dad needs to kick his boss's ass.

Hank Friendly - 2011-08-31
This is stupid, but they can't possibly sink any lower than photoshopping Hayden Christiansen into the end of ROTJ. If anyone else has a moment that qualifies as a re-release nadir, I'd be curious.
This reminds me of the end of city hall
Rovin - 2011-08-31 The reinsertion of Jabba the Hutt's scene in "Episode IV" for the Special Editions is the one that usually kills me. His size seems all wrong and too small compared with RotJ (where he wasn't shown as mobile, I might add), the "wow, this guy is a serious character" notion is gone as he's mostly treated like a baffoon in that scene, Han's hand when he gestures looks as if it's entering space Jabba's digital corpulence is inhabiting, AND the "step on the tail" trick they decided to pull...
I know people would probably say "Han Shot First" is probably the earliest defining moment that this series was headed for post-revisionist shit, but the Han/Jabba sequence - which isn't even NECESSARY to the plot, it's just in there as a fanboy wink seemingly - was it for me.
Hank Friendly - 2011-08-31 its a tough call, HC or han shot first, a sad state of affairs indeed
Rovin - 2011-08-31 You just wait, Lucas is now plotting to digitally insert a CGI elderly Hayden Christensen head into the scenes after the top half of the mask is removed in RotJ.
Assuming he hasn't already done so, that is.
sosage - 2011-09-01 Nerding out for a sec: but Jabba was the earliest wtf change to me not just because of how clumsy it was executed, but that they have him walking around at all. Part of his character design/development in ROTJ was that he was this extremely powerful, yet extremely fat and lazy beast. He lounged around on a movable bed like America's fattest man not just because he couldn't move, but because he didn't have to. The extent of how much he was feared by everyone was punctuated by the fact that everyone moved for him...and he physically moved for no one.
Then he is all walking around talking to Han Solo...on some shitty planet...to take care of some rinky dink errand bullshit...it was so much easier to kinda skip that mis-step mentally when it was just some white guy playing the role.
Everything else was (Han shooting first...etc.) just a part of the slippery slope.

i can't even remember what the original was supposed to be like
i can't even remember half my favourite movies
chumbucket - 2011-08-31
The entire series is becoming one big messy blob of a film project

Jet Bin Fever - 2011-08-31
Someone get Amanda Lucas to sleeper hold her dad till he signs over the company and all "creative" abilities.

themilkshark - 2011-08-31
It's Star Wars, who the fuck cares. You people are worse than the Freddyphiles who refuse to watch the Elm Street remake.
Rovin - 2011-08-31 Actually, no Freddy film should seriously be watched after the third except New Nightmare.
Also, you're a poop head.
themilkshark - 2011-08-31 Jackie Earl Haley was fantastic as Krueger.
I'm not a poop head. You're a poop head.
Rovin - 2011-08-31 NO U
But I'd say that if someone had to have the part, Jackie Earle Haley WAS an inspired recasting.
TeenerTot - 2011-08-31
Do not want!
RocketBlender - 2011-08-31
Apparently having things go full circle is the ultimate accomplishment for movies in Lucas's book.
freedoom - 2011-08-31
It's his film he can change it any way he wants. I'm not happy with the change but the change was for him not the fans.
Riskbreaker - 2011-08-31 The money is also for him, not the fans.
riedquat - 2011-08-31
I think Anakin's motivation in this scene is sufficiently ambiguous to warrant some extra dialogue, just to make sure the audience understands how upset he is feeling. Some people might think he threw the old man down the hole out of cruelty and I hope the added "NOOO" clears things up for all the confused dimwits who used to think Darth Vader was a villain or something.

TheDevilsDictionary - 2011-08-31
Makes me think of Kurt Russell in "Tombstone" when he just defiantly walks into the river to take out those red scarf guys with a shotgun. "No.... No.... NO!"

NEEEEEERRRRRRRRRRRRDDDDDDSS!!!
Riskbreaker - 2011-08-31
I'm just glad i never got into these movies, i liked the original trilogy when i was 11, but in the most casual sense possible. By the time Phantom Menace came out i had already forgotten about the original movies.

I simply smile, and watch my copy of Episode IV Revisited. That had to piss off George when he saw "non" Lucasfilm people do a better job than he did.
