Xenocide - 2011-08-01 It's "pre-punk." From the wild pioneer days of science fiction pulps, when there were no "punks" because sci-fi itself was novelty enough, and it did crazy shit like having a guy find a barbarian society on Mars where his enemies were green snake people with two torsos stacked on top of each other.
And this was okay with everybody, because folks back then remembered a time when cars and airplanes were considered just as ridiculous. So was it that farfetched to think that one day, we'd all be John Carter, stepping unto amazing new worlds where adventure and discovery awaited behind every red rock?
Good times.

Aelric - 2011-08-02 The princess of mars was wearing about 100% more clothing than she did in her most modest moment in the books.

This looks awesome.

It looks OK but consider me massively disappointed they kicked Kerry Conran off the project.
|
Chalkdust - 2011-08-01 Conran left back when this was being developed by Paramount, and the project went through several more potential directors before the rights lapsed and Disney acquired it (or re-acquired, rather, since they were toying with this back in the 80's too).
Development hell is a harsh mistress.

Who knows how it'll actually turn out, but 5 for the most bizarre trailer soundtrack choice of the summer.

freedoom - 2011-08-01

cognitivedissonance - 2011-08-01

Tim fucking Riggins.

Scynne - 2011-08-02
This looks like a brilliant concept. I expect it will be trash, though. I'll probably still see it opening night.

Hammer Falls - 2011-08-02
This was supposed to be Disney's action entry for the November holiday season. A pushed-to-March release date does not bode well for it.
