Not according to stravinsky. He absolutely hated what they did with rite of spring in the first Fantasia. It's supposed to be about early russian ancestors, not dinosaurs. What the hell is going on with all these dinosaurs? He also hated conductors who took any musical liberties with music.

StanleyPain - 2011-03-29 Stravinksy also hated children and routinely beat the 8 year old girl that lived next to him. He also liked to draw pictures of people he disliked, then he would find them, show them the picture, then set it on fire in front of them without saying a word.

Rodents of Unusual Size - 2011-03-29 Now I really hope this was Disney's way of saying fuck you to him, even though he's dead.
The original firebird changed into a human to help prince Ivan rescue a bunch of princesses. They introduced a B

lustygoat - 2011-03-29 Stravinsky had an image to maintain. If he throttled a bass clarinetist to death behind the Concertgebouw once... it could have been about just street cred.

I'd say this was OK, but not a patch on most classic Disney. The character animation in particular isn't that great- sure, they have like 100 effects and follow-through animators working on every frame, but whoever the lead animator is seems better suited to The Princess And The Frog or some BS. It's not very appealingly laid out or colour styled, either, when you compare it to the original Fantasia.
In terms of sheer imagination, this thing is operating purely within the confines set out by Mr. Disney 60 years previous. So yeah, it's an ok impression of an older, better film, but I'd say it was far from the best thing Disney ever did.

Rodents of Unusual Size - 2011-03-29 Dude, have you not seen Fantasia 2000 all the way through? The character design on the Rhapsody in Blue segment is gorgeous! Not to mention the Steadfast Tin Soldier segment, which featured a demented jack in the box.
