The ATF can't get it's hands dirty, waste resources or get caught in killing drug gangs. It's easier to allow them to kill each other and controlling what gets to them. Public is at risk, of course but I'm sure it's a calculated loss.
To convince everyone that Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms shouldn't just be a convenience store. If cuts are going to be made to federal programs, they want to make damn sure it's not them.
There never was a "drug war." It's all a cover up for a new Metal Gear project. Billions of dollars straight from the government going towards it with the public thinking it's going to keep our borders safe.
Obama loves whistle-blowers. I'm sure this guy will be okay. I'm sure that those responsible will be held accountable, particularly at the highest levels. Oh, and also that our drug policies will change.
