Amen.

Innocent Bystander - 2011-01-31

Damn.

twinkieafternoon - 2011-01-31

Most TV executives do think like a bratty, low-brow 9 year old, after all.

pressed peanut sweepings - 2011-01-31

Bart is 10, you jackass.

MrBuddy - 2011-02-01

Hasn't Bart been 10 for the past 21 years, meaning he should be 31 by now? Even if every Simpsons episode equals one day in Springfield wouldn't he at least by 11 and close to 12?

oddeye - 2011-02-01

No, cause see it's a cartoon.

fluffy - 2011-01-31

So in retrospect, we really shouldn't be surprised.

"Who knows what will happen between now and when the show becomes unprofitable!" -- Troy McClure

CharlesSmith - 2011-01-31

What episode is that from?

RomancingTrain - 2011-01-31

This isn't from an episode, it was an ad.

Spit Spingola - 2011-01-31

The Simpsons were on opposite the Cosby Show at the time and hurt Cosby's ratings big time.

Xenocide - 2011-01-31

Fox made much sport out of taking digs at Cosby, largely because the rise of The Simpsons sounded the death knell for Cosby-styled flavorless sitcom wholesomeness.

I remember that on the day of the Cosby finale, there was a print ad in my newspaper advertising an episode of The Simpsons that would run against it. It featured Lisa saying "We understand if you'd rather watch the last episode of Cosby...it's just that we'll never forgive you for it."

Mother_Puncher - 2011-01-31

Perhaps the latter seasons were a running joke spawned from this ad.

jyrque - 2011-01-31

Yes.

Desidiosus - 2011-01-31

I remember back when this show was the quality by which other shows were judged. I am old.

Oktay - 2011-01-31

I feel that this show failed to get biz-zay consistently and thoroughly. If they had been proactive, we'd be talking about a totally outrageous paradigm right now.

Jane Error - 2011-01-31

Coming across a pre-Season 10 clip I've never seen before is like finding old but still delicious candy hidden in the back of the cupboard!

Also, yes. Eerily prescient.

oddeye - 2011-02-01

The Simpsons could predict their own downfall but not 9/11... coincidence?

They did...coincidence?

Jet Bin Fever - 2011-02-02

Ahh I miss the Simpsons being likable and watchable. I watched one about a week ago from Season 6 or 8 or something and it was like an old friend I hadn't seen for years had shown up and brought me presents that reminded me of how much I missed them.

The Mothership - 2015-10-11

Know how you feel, pal, know how you feel.
