Except that he's not. Hank is the most repressed and insane of the cast, he's trapped in his own purgatory of Texan social mores and it's reiterated time and time again that he's not actually happy in any way.
This whole series defines tragi-comedy. Hank does everything he's supposed to do: marries his high school sweetheart, supports his family and friends and neighbors and fellow man no matter what, forces himself to love his job, stands up for the little guy and all he has to show for it is his own small sense of dignity, I tell you what.
Persecuted White Male! Fighting for his client! Wearing sexy mini-skirts and being self-reliant!
Seriously, Hank is just about the only sitcom dad I can think of who is a decent, intelligent guy. He plays straight man to the ENTIRE WORLD. He's not persecuted because he's white, he's persecuted because he's not an idiot.
