The concept of a cartoon series based on the movie "Little Shop of Horrors" was very appealing to me as a kid. I was very disappointed that it turned out to be this.
I actually watched the fuck out of this show, and I'm not afraid to admit it. The Steve Martin greaser/dentist character rode around on a moped and wore braces.
I will never forget the parody this show did of it's a wonderful life. The kid wanted to know what life was like if he was never born.
The kids mom remarried and was happier. The plant shop where he work had closed, because the owner had opened a chain of frozen yogurt stores and was now a millionaire. His mom had another kid, who grew up to be the best mayor the city had ever had. Basically everyone was better off for him never having existed.
"Aren't you supposed to be showing me how miserable everyone would be without me?"
"Hey, if everyone made the world a better place, it'd be perfect by now"
Five stars for savage existential pessimism in a Saturday morning cartoon show.
