Try reading about the multiple sexual strategies detailed in the link. I've been hoping for a youtube video about the complicated sex lives of these lizards for a while, but no luck. This is a really gorgeous example of a blue-throated morph. From the color, you can tell that it is most likely to have certain levels of testosterone and practice monogamous mate-guarding. This strategy will be most effective against yellow-throated 'sneaker males' who look and act like females in order to have sex with other lizards' harems. Mate guarding is least effective against aggressively polygamist orange throated males, who will rush into blue lizard territories, beat them up, and ravish their wives. It's a rock-paper-scissors game of sexual selection: orange throated males are weak to the sneaker strategy, because they can't guard all their mates at once.
