Considering the most numerous demographic under the poverty line in America are caucasian, this guy seems to have "whites" confused with an episode of Silver Spoons or maybe a Richie Rich comic. Most whites are way more likely to know a meth dealer than someone on the board of trustees or in the admissions office. But he sounds pissed, therefore convincing. ANGRY OPINIONS.

Monkey Napoleon - 2010-04-07 You're clouding your own pulled out of your butt statistics. Saying that there's more whites under the poverty line than blacks is a garbage statistic of no value. What's important is the percentage of white population vs the percentage of black population.
Show me a study that says any one of the following things:
The average household income for white families is lower than the average household income for black families.
The average white family has less academic and professional contacts as the average black family.
The average level of education of a white person is lower than the average level of education for a black person.
The next time you and your hillbilly friends are sitting around and laughing about how sad all those crack-smoking jungle bunnies are, maybe you should think about how you've had every advantage in the world that they didn't... and you're STILL white trash.

Feyd - 2010-04-08 It's not a made-up statistic it's pure arithmetic. There are more caucasians under the poverty line in the US than any other demographic. Averages and percentages are useful as starting points to provoke an examination of institutional discrimination. However, this guy is is wacky lala-land when he describes the college application process for whites. For most it's just as discriminatory and limiting as it is for anyone coming from a legacy of poverty.
Hey how 'bout that: POVERTY. I guess there's something else we could examine when talking social mobility!

His whole bit is essentially "White people are like THIS, eeepa-eeepa-eep, and our PRIVILEGED OPPONENTS fail to acknowledge my extended ridiculous fairy story about college admittance, so there!"
None of this has anything to do with affirmative action, but then again neither does any part of Wise's rant.
