I thought this came off as more sympathetic to Ringo than anything else. Because John and Paul did kind of dismiss his songwriting, to the point that only two of his compositions ever made it on Beatles albums (the rest ended up in his solo stuff.)

One of the bigger Beatles was once asked if Ringo was the best drummer in the world. He replied: "Ringo isn't even the best drummer in the Beatles."
