OK not really spoilers but if you want to watch it out of context stop reading. The small children and obviously non-human characters are from another dimension. Every so many centuries they all come to either, meet their human partner and battle each other to determine who gets to be their new ruler. If I remember right the "V" shaped guy was beating everyone until someone reminded him he liked melons and he went into a melon song. Everyone joined in, happy not to have their butts kicked for a little while.
