I don't know if this happens in the second season, but about halfway through the first, the focus becomes far less on the tools, and more about their incredibly broken girlfriends. It's still entertaining, but far more generic.
The final episode was jaw-dropping. I'm still trying to determine whether it was a parody or an incredibly misguided affirmation of traditional values.
