It's pretty much required protocol - any piece saying something bad about their side has to at least obliquely mention somewhere that the other guys are bad too.
There was actually an edict that (the day the photos and the rest came out) any piece talking about Abu Gharaib had to also mention that insurgents killed and dismembered contractors.
