Did he mean ewoks? ...Chewbacca was in all the Star Wars films. Still a Wookie migraine is a pretty cool reason to turn down a lucrative director job.

*Deploy beard*

The original Return of the Jedi was going to take place on Kashyyyk, the wookie homeworld. It was decided that wookies had been shown through the series to be too civilized (guns etc) so they moved it to Endor and ewoks.

How'd you do that thing with the beard?

Ruination - 2009-12-12

He did mean Ewoks. they were called wookies when Lucas was first coming up with the ideas for the third movie. Nerdgasm over. Though, that is too bad, I would have liked to see a more experimental film approach to the third movie, kind of like the guy from Eraserhead getting jedi powers.

Lurchi - 2009-12-12

In some alternate universe, Return of the Jedi has the aesthetics of Dune.

Rape Van Winkle - 2009-12-12

In some alternate Dune, Jedi returns.

notascientist - 2009-12-12

Face it, everyone, we don't deserve a David Lynch Star Wars anyway.

Hooker - 2009-12-12

Seeing what he did with Dune, I rather glad he we don't have a Lynch Star Wars.

Camonk - 2009-12-12

You're right. Not even Hitler would've deserved a David Lynch Star Wars.

memedumpster - 2009-12-12

I too feel like Jedi dodged a bullet, probably two considering Lucas, with this one.

zatojones - 2009-12-12

Dune's material was much more in line with the stuff Lynch likes to do. Star Wars definitely is not.

EskimoSpy - 2009-12-12

And yet Lynch still managed to make it horrible. I can only imagine what he would do with material that wasn't in line with what he likes to do.

glasseye - 2009-12-12

Dune was chopped up by the producers as well. The original 4-hour Lynch version makes more sense at least, but it's still a drag.

cognitivedissonance - 2009-12-12

How bizarre is it that David Lynch of all people is the kindly old Hollywood grandpa now? I just want to hug him and take him out to Shoney's after church.

Cleaner82 - 2009-12-12

He has always been deceptively mild-mannered and normal-seeming.

"He was such a quiet guy, always kept to himself mostly..."

FABIO - 2009-12-12

That wasn't a very interesting story =\
