poor grimes, there can be only one

Charles - 2009-12-09

Ah come on, Grimey, Homer doesn't walk like that.

I like how no one tries to stop him.

Camonk - 2009-12-09

Homer does show his butt a lot though. He got that right.

Frank Rizzo - 2009-12-09

you're grounded young man!

megaspy2000 - 2009-12-09

THA SUGAH RAIN - 2009-12-09

man, that random box of exposed high voltage wires is an OSHA nightmare.

Desidiosus - 2009-12-09

Worse than someone peeing on the seat? I think not.

j lzrd / swift idiot - 2009-12-09

Haha, you wish!

William Burns - 2009-12-09

Not Hulu, so it'll be gone in a week!

William Burns - 2009-12-09

But seriously, this scene was the high point of the entire series in so many different way.

infinite zest - 2009-12-09

Actually upon its release, a lot of people considered this to be the point where the series started to go downhill. In retrospect it's one of everyone's favorites (though mine's still Last Exit To Springfield)

fluffy - 2009-12-09

Basically this is where the series realized that it was all about Homer being a goof and getting away with it somehow. Unfortunately, rather than use that as a reason to change, they decided to just go for it full-force.

So this episode was in that sense the beginning of the end, BUT it was still a very good episode.

pastorofmuppets - 2009-12-10

I love Frank Grimes, and Hank Scorpio too. But they definitely started to lose it after season 8. Hell, I think you'd be justified in drawing that line right after Barney became a regular. I was pretty young when these seasons were new and I have to wonder what I would have thought of them if I'd fully developed into the prick I am today.

Xenocide - 2009-12-10

Every episode ever made is considered by someone to be the point where the show went downhill.

Personally, I think this was the episode where The Simpsons truly reached its peak of brilliance, by admitting that a normal person would completely snap if forced to live in its universe. It wasn't just about Homer, it was a condemnation/celebration of the entire Simpsons universe, and of how very skewed its reality was.

So I guess in a way it IS a downhill point, but only because the show has never been better. It still remained excellent for a few years after this ep, though.

garcet71283 - 2010-05-16

The point for me is when they start deliberately parodying "The Simpsons are going to ___(insert ethic/international location here)___" Usually, when a comedy becomes self-aware it ceases to be funny.

dead_cat - 2009-12-09

"I'm better than ok. I'M HOMER SIMPSON!"

Poor Grimes.

Man Who Fights Like Woman - 2009-12-09

-1 for camcorder quality.

No I'm kidding.

Valvados - 2009-12-09

Or, as he was known by his friends, Grimey.

robe - 2009-12-09

frank grimes fortold a coming generation of overeducated and underemployed workaholics who garrote each other for unpaid internships in the hopes that they will maybe finally have enough 'real world experience' to land another, more glamorous unpaid internship once their six months are up.

also if you think this is prime simpsons you are a young dumb upstart of a whippersnapper and deserve to be tarred and feathered in town square con'sarnit

kiint - 2009-12-10

yeah, after the Tracey Ulmann Show it was all downhill from there

KnowFuture - 2009-12-09

I could take points off for not having the funeral scene (Rev. Lovejoy: "Frank Grimes...or 'Grimey', as he liked to be called...")

Riskbreaker - 2009-12-09

Come on people, we got episodes like the cartridge family after this. Yes, season 8 was the pinacle, but i still don't see this episode as "the" end of the series.

pastorofmuppets - 2009-12-10

Also, "Bart's People."

duck&cover - 2009-12-09

"Marge, change the channel."

Caminante Nocturno - 2009-12-10

Homer's fat is a natural safety glove.

oogaBooga - 2009-12-11

After I saw David Byrne do a guest cameo, I vowed to never watch a new episode again. I havent.

Influence Device TIMR - 2010-03-03
