It's too bad she won't live. But then again, who does?

Somebody is going to rate this down because of Joanna Newsom but it won't be me.
|
dieudonne - 2009-10-01 Allmusic.com says her voice has "a pure, untrained sound somewhere between a child and a crone"
|
Camonk - 2009-10-01 Somewhere between a retard and a screechier retard would be more accurate.

The music was like a cheese grater being rubbed across my brain.
Cool paper sculptures, though.

I like attractive young ladies who warble and pluck the harp while singing about monkeys and beans.
Therefore, I like Joanna Newsom.

It looks more like a llama than a horse, but I like its solar sasswalk.

I love Joanna Newsom for a variety of reasons, including being awesome, working with Van Dyke Parks (who is awesome), and working with Jim O'Rourke (who is awesome).
But perhaps the biggest reason is the title of her most recent EP: Joanna Newsom and the Ys Street Band.
Brilliant.

My rating is based on muting the video

"Bonus Joanna Newsom" is like saying "bonus kick in the balls"
Bonuses are supposed to be good. There is no word for "extra bad shit" because no one wants it. She sounds like a retard, honestly.
Can someone give a good reason for this being six minutes long?

This is awesome! So, the sunlight itself shining onto the paper creates a temperature difference which causes... solar panel... IC chips. Nevermind.
Five for the song.

People who dismiss her music because of her voice are stupid. You have to just let the shock of it wear off and once you do her song will reward you.
Five stars because this is cool, though this is the wrong Joanna Newsom song to use with this.

pastorofmuppets - 2009-10-02 Her voice is very different and I will admit that it took me some getting used to. When Milk-Eyed Mender came out I didn't give it a second listen. But the songs & orchestration on Ys kept me coming back and then I went back and really enjoyed Mender too.
I really hope everyone (ever) gives "Emily" from Ys a fair shake. It's one of the best things I've heard in years and that's not exaggerating.

akinskirage - 2010-01-31 Agreed, her voice is off-putting to the easily off-putted, but I can't get enough of it, and her. 'Emily' is indeed incredibly good.
