Most people are rightfully waiting for the police investigation to conclude. But its not like anyone is really surprised. Or expects this to be the end of it.

millerman13 - 2009-09-24

I live about an hour away from Clay County. That area of the state/the Gorge is well known for growing large amounts of marijuana, so some of us are wondering if Sparkman came across someone's weed field. It will be interesting to see what happened (if we will ever really know).

Hooper_X - 2009-09-24

Is it sad that I'd honestly be happier if the guy accidentally stumbled into some hick's meth lab?

millerman13 - 2009-09-24

No. It's just as likely. I think there's something really fishy that they've been hiding and don't want public. There's something else to this we aren't being told, obviously, but I just don't know what it could be.

Paracelsus - 2009-09-25

Ya better stay away from Copperhead Road.

Jeriko-1 - 2009-09-25

That part of Kentucky is a fuckin' scary area. My co-worker told me things. Like if 'ya ain't kin' from there, its REAL easy to up and get lost in the woods...

I'm surprised whoever did this left the body to be found. Most people just kind of vanish.

memedumpster - 2009-09-25

If you ARE kin from there it's easy to up and get lost in the woods.

I don't think they'd have found the body had they stumbled upon pot farmers. My guess is something less capitalist motivated.

chumbucket - 2009-09-24

census worker?? so not IRS, not ATF, not DEA, Justice or Banking but CENSUS? Sounds more like a cheap excuse to kill someone they just plain didn't like.

oh yeah, and Kentucky.

Time Travel Mishap - 2009-09-24

He was there to count people. You know who else count's people? LUCIFER!

Toenails - 2009-09-24

You know who else likes to count people?

The Count.

simon666 - 2009-09-25

Know who The Count also counts? Lucifers! I think you see what I'm getting at.

Camonk - 2009-09-24

So, according to the title, the word 'Fed' was scrawled on a guy's chest, and then it was found hanged.

Real shame for 'Fed'.

TeenerTot - 2009-09-25

Hey, man...I just copy/pasted the title AP used. You got a beef with the AP, son? They don't cotton to beefs, son.

Jack Dalton - 2009-09-24

You know, fanatical conservative media riles up these crazies, and then when something like this happens, they say-- "Whoa! We don't condone this stuff! Those guys are just nuts!" Well, maybe Sean Hannity, Michael Savage, or Glenn Beck haven't met a good portion of their lunatic audience-- perhaps a fraction, but a significant fraction nonetheless. And when you plant the idea that the country is under attack from some communist nazi conspiracy-- you are, in a sense, encouraging the crazies to take arms against their "oppressors." To Glenn Beck's credit, he advocates "peaceful means" of changing the government. But that really doesn't do much good when you give misinformation to a group of people that are incredibly alienated and full of hatred.

jangbones - 2009-09-24

don't worry, enjoy will be in here soon to blame this on ACORN or Al Sharpton

pastorofmuppets - 2009-09-25

Deliverance guys don't get cable.

" A census taker tried to test me. I ate his liver. With some fava beans, and a nice Chianti."

phalsebob - 2009-09-25

We need a new tag, like Republicoplypse 09 or Rightzkrieg 09.

simon666 - 2009-09-25

Republifucks, I think, is pretty good.

it's late, I'm drunk

memedumpster - 2009-09-25

I like to stick to the traditional Democrips and Rebloodlicans.

Though Re-pube-lickin' may have changed all that.

Charles - 2010-10-25

Repugnant-ones.

Goethe and ernie - 2009-09-25

I will always remember 2009 as the year that America went out of its way to vindicate my every previously unjustifiable prejudice

KnowFuture - 2009-09-25

I think everyone is misinterpreting this whole event. See, there was this census taker and he was going around taking his census and after a while he got really really hungry, so then some nice hillbilly folks said they could feed him but then they would have to kill him. "Sounds reasonable to me!" said the census taker

but seriously....if any good can come from this really shitty thing, maybe it will lead to the credibility of the reactionary right finally being buried in an undisclosed location/suburb in New Jersey like the toxic waste it is and then the rest of us can finally either get on with (a) making the world a better place or (b) living our lives and doing our thing without this particular group of assholes to deal with anymore.

What's the equivalent expression to "bomb-throwing radical"? "Gun-toting radical" sounds about right.

Big Muddy - 2010-12-16

This may be the only time in our history someone unintentionally trolled the entire yankee liberal elite community to create this backwash of ill-informed scapegoating. Not embarrased you say? Man killed himself for shame of being there in the first place? Point taken and well met, y'all.

Bort - 2013-08-13

According to Wikipedia:

"On November 23, investigators declared the death a suicide. According to reports, Sparkman, who had previously battled non-Hodgkins lymphoma, is suspected to have believed that his cancer had returned, and just prior to his death had taken out life insurance policies for 0,000 which would have been paid to his financially struggling son in the event of death and which would not pay out for suicide or death from cancer."
