Smellvin - 2009-09-13
"... it leaves me feeling sick and sad..."
That, I believe, was the very point of the movie.

So starring Tom Green as himself, basically.

If someone's set up as a comedy target, then you can do anything to them! Lessons in morality from everyone's favorite film critic.

Rabid Vegan - 2009-09-14 Set up as a comedy target IN A MOVIE, you muppet!

Is it just me, or does Ebert artifact up when he gets mad describing how bad these movies are?

Ebert later said about "Freddy" and Green:
"...I remember Freddy Got Fingered more than a year later. I refer to it sometimes. It is a milestone. And for all its sins, it was at least an ambitious movie, a go-for-broke attempt to accomplish something. It failed, but it has not left me convinced that Tom Green doesn't have good work in him. Anyone with his nerve and total lack of taste is sooner or later going to make a movie worth seeing."

I can never decide if this movie is just raw stupid, or if it's actually a genius subversion of every "wacky comedy" ever. Either way, I actually have to think about it and I guess that means Tom Green wins. Damn.

Rip Torn is the only reason to watch this movie, and it's not a very good reason.

I've always loved this movie and refuse to justify why, as I really do not have an excuse for liking it so much. No excuse at all.

Um, the end of this review is the only thing that has made me want to see it. I saved the day!

"This movie doesn't scrape the bottom of the barrel. This movie isn't the bottom of the barrel. This movie isn't below the bottom of the barrel. This movie doesn't deserve to be mentioned in the same sentence with barrels.
Many years ago, when surrealism was new, Luis Bunuel and Salvador Dali made "Un Chien Andalou," a film so shocking that Bunuel filled his pockets with stones to throw at the audience if it attacked him. Green, whose film is in the surrealist tradition, may want to consider the same tactic. The day may come when "Freddy Got Fingered" is seen as a milestone of neo-surrealism. The day may never come when it is seen as funny."
- Roger Ebert's written review of this movie.
