You guys are all full of shit. If a tent city existed in your neighborhood you'd want in gone too. They'd bring in drugs, crime, they'd hassle you for money, and on top of that just be an eyesore. You guys feign compassion, but you'd call the cops like anybody else and get them out.

Initially I hated the tent city. But I saw that this is an effect of many being in a recession that is hitting Florida wickedly. They were not there because of drugs and alcohol. I saw this in their work ethic and ingenuity. I had to tip my hat to them, and a few I offered jobs to as drivers of my electric powered free taxi service.

But capitalism has crushed me and them, because the taxi cab company sued, won, stole my idea, and are using it to much success.

Er, I don't think anybody thinks evicting them from their tent city is in any way a solution to homeless problem. That's not the goal. The goal is to make it someone ELSE's problem.

Yeah, this is pretty much just running the bums out of town. It's an age old tradition - force bums out of Town A, take them to Town B. Town A now has no homeless folk and Town B's getting ready to shift those gumptionless slackers off to Town C, who are casting a swarthy eye towards Town D, and on and on and on.

I think Foucault wrote a book about it, or something.

And the thing is, this practice is fucking ancient. The reason people are getting mad at this video isn't because of Them Poor Homeless Folk, it's because the police are acting like fucking railway bulls from 1923. We should be beyond such behaviour. That's the real fucking crime here: that tent-city denizens are getting shanked sucks, but that there still exists institutions that shank tent-city dwellers? That's fucking horrible.
