As a Canadian, I feel sick seeing O'Reilly next to a picture of our flag. It's like he's going to give us syphilis or something.

Hooker - 2009-07-29

zomgzomgzomgzomgzomg

I used to know this guy from some other forum that was a raving Bill O'Reilly fanatic. He once said, in what is a very close approximation to a quote: "Probability is bullshit because every time I flip a coin, there's a 50% chance it comes up heads." Thus, I think the case can be made that aggressive conservatives are clinically retarded.

spikestoyiu - 2009-07-29

Actually isn't it like 51% likely that it'll come up heads? I'm too lazy to Google.

Ageusiatic - 2009-07-29

He's correct in what he said, it's called gambler's fallacy. That said, it doesn't equate at all towards the argument at hand.

Hooker - 2009-07-29

No, he was speaking of probability as a whole. The entire discipline. He was dismissing, among other things, the bell curve on the basis of individual coin flips.

Witty_Pop_Culture_Reference - 2009-07-29

We're more of the love, blood and rhetoric school. Well, we can do you blood and love without the rhetoric, and we can do you blood and rhetoric without the love, and we can do you all three concurrent or consecutive. But we can't give you love and rhetoric without the blood. Blood is compulsory. They're all blood, you see.

Syd Midnight - 2009-07-29

I know that type of person and they are more likely to spend on scratch off lottery tickets than make a Gambler's Fallacy reference. The kind of person who uses a simple math riddle they don't get as proof that "numbers lie". Stupidity > malice.

TeenerTot - 2009-07-29

WPCR is an ACTOR! He's the opposite of people!

Camonk - 2009-07-29

I'm not sure that really counts as POP culture, you guys.

happy_ending - 2009-07-29

:) to WPCR and Teener

phalsebob - 2009-07-29

Actually, if you add up the average life expectancies of Canadians for the past ten years, you will see we are living over 800 years. You might want to reconsider socialism Billo.

spikestoyiu - 2009-07-29

But does anyone really want to spend 800 years on a planet where garbage like this pulls in millions upon millions of viewers?

Caminante Nocturno - 2009-07-29

...

Urist - 2009-07-29

"Ooohhh... he is going to bash Canada's health care system! This should be exciting, I wonder where he will go with it?
.
.
.
.
Really?"

Riskbreaker - 2009-07-29

It's ok for Bill to say stupid shit like this, his audience would never get it. He could say the earth is flat, and is the center of the universe, and nobody would see nothing wrong with that.

badideasinaction - 2009-07-29

Here's the big question - did he say that because he believed it, or because he knew that's all he needed to say for his viewers to believe it.

Because really, I'm guessing his actual honest answer would be "well, that's because their system lets poor people live longer, and we don't care about them".

GravidWithHate - 2009-07-29

..

Fuck.

cognitivedissonance - 2009-07-29

*Kyle Broflovsky* REEEEALLY?

Xenocide - 2009-07-29

I'd like to see Bill deliver Dave Foley's Canada monologue, but played perfectly straight. His viewers would believe him.

revdrew - 2009-07-29

The line between O'Reilly and Colbert seems to be getting thinner everyday.

Rodents of Unusual Size - 2009-07-29

Hey, he can't expected to do math anymore. He's what, two hundred years old?

Billy the Poet - 2009-07-29

Dirt... fucking... stupid.

Kumquatxop - 2009-07-29

what

RomancingTrain - 2009-07-29

I love when they talk like we're the idiots because we don't understand what they're saying.

THA SUGAH RAIN - 2009-07-29

These stars are for freshman stats class being over bill's head

FABIO - 2009-07-29

Do Vatican citizens live millions of years?

Mend0zA - 2009-07-29

Judging by the only Vatican City citizens I have seen? Yes.

GiantAtomicFreak - 2009-07-29

Where I come from "tops himself" means "commits suicide". Minus one star for getting my hopes up.

zatojones - 2009-07-29

i literally feel stupider for having heard that

pot kettle black - 2009-07-29

I are understand statistics!

Cena_mark - 2009-07-29

Media Matters does nothing but point out when conservative commentators make little mistakes and flub ups. They're the equivalent of guys who point out spelling and grammar errors on the internet.

robe - 2009-07-29

What did he mean to say, Mark?

Smellvin - 2009-07-29

I'm guessing he was trying to mention population density -- not total numbers. I don't know whether or not Canada has fewer people by percentage in urban areas, nor do I care enough to check.

IrishWhiskey - 2009-07-29

Ted Hitler agrees:

http://www.poetv.com/video.php?vid=31218

rawelkij - 2009-07-29

It should be "flub-ups."

badideasinaction - 2009-07-29

Smellvin: Canada has a lower population density, but our population distribution puts the vast majority of our population in urban areas near the boder. Stats I saw place distribute population as 80% urban, 20% rural, which is a hair above the US's 79 and change percent.

Rum Revenge - 2009-07-29

I know I shouldn't feed this troll, but it's not a "little mistake" or a "flub-up", O'Reilly is spreading his agenda through a very obvious and outright lie.

If Obama had made that middle-school math failure on TV, you'd have a field day!

cognitivedissonance - 2009-07-29

You're my density.

Cena_mark - 2009-07-29

He's not trying to lie to spread his agenda. He just fudged up. He's a broadcaster who does live TV, It happens. If anything the health systems aren't the main factors giving Canadiots and Americans different life spans. If anything I'd say its diet that shortens America's life spans more than anything.

pastorofmuppets - 2009-07-29

The important thing was that he was defending our current healthcare system. As long as you agree with that the rest (including arguments for and against other systems) is just nitpicking. ELITIST nitpicking.

phalsebob - 2009-07-30

So Canada has a healthier diet? Do you have any idea what Poutine is?

dr_rock - 2009-08-03

Cena is right. In fact he, himself, is living proof of what he says.

(FATASS!)

Pillager - 2009-07-29

O_O

Their profound ignorance never ceases to amaze me.

Meerkat - 2009-07-29

Bill O'Reilly only has to be smarter than the people who watch him seriously, and just stupid enough that smart people watch him to see what crazy shit is going to come out of his mouth next.

Ratings are ratings are ratings.

Ponasty - 2009-07-29

DING, DING, DING. we have a winner!

Syd Midnight - 2009-07-29

Exactly. Ever really listen to a televangelist in full swing? He doesn't believe half the shit that comes out his mouth, but he knows his viewers do.

mashedtater - 2009-07-29

bill, ive done your math. according to it, we should all be dead by now, considering we should not have lived past the age of 8.

memedumpster - 2009-07-29

Wow, I expect Bill to say stupid things, but that was academically stupid. Bill is one day going to be on the View.

glasseye - 2009-07-29

Keep on running that retard race, Bill.
