However, before you can kick someone in the head, you have to study for many years and pass tests and have many hours of experience witnessing other kicks to the head being delivered, at which point you can be officially qualified to kick people in the head yourself. Even then, you may only proceed with the kicking in the head following appropriate procedure and under adequate supervision. This system is designed to try and prevent morons who themselves might deserve a kick in the head from becoming head kickers, since they might end up kicking people who did not deserve to be kicked in the head.

This system is called The Criminal Justice System, and it's not just a good idea, it's the law. I know it all seems very wacky and it escapes you right now, but there is a reason for it, and there is a reason why that kick was wrong, even if it felt so right.

I agree; Police ought to be able to dispense corporal punishment as they see fit, without the needless red tape of due process.

I am very glad that both Cena Mark and Corporal Cowpat are here to dispense their wisdom in the area of crime and punishment. I have been suffering from the misapprehension that the courts determined what punishment is due when a criminal has been caught. I now know that it's the police who mete out justice, and that due process of law has nothing to do with it. Thanks guys, I'll be wrapping your thank you cards in the shredded remains of the Declaration of Independence and the Bill of Rights.
