Coleman Francis movies are the most depressing slabs of humanity.

Mike Nelson believes that this was the worst film they ever did.

There is nothing more painful to watch than a Coleman Francis film. Pure contrived inanity that builds up to nothing.

I regard Coleman Francis with the same awe as I would a Kubrick or Tarkovsky. He was a master of the non-film, the eventless, stark, surreal landscapes of bland Americana populated with ever-more unlikable characters. HE WAS HOLDING A MIRROR UP TO US!!!!

The sad part is that there is a Coleman Francis site for people who actually think this.

Not surprising. This is why I love b-movies like this. It's easy to find a bad sci-fi movie or what not from the 50s or 60s, but it's awesome when you find stuff that just transcends even the concept of "bad movie" and moves into some Lynchian realm. That's how I feel about Francis, and Ed Wood, and Manos and stuff like that. It's a kind of anti-genius, almost outsider art.

I like it when he steps over the fence and goes "hnnng". Five stars!

Holy crap, it's the whole episode. Such a weird goddamn movie.

Holy hell this is giving me some flashbacks.

"It won the Palme d'Butt at Cannes!"
