I saw this on Houston TV (I forget which local station). It pretty much summed up the Texas mindset:
1. All instances of Ms. Von Schtupp's name were bleeped out.
2. All instances of fart noises were replaced with horses braying.
3. All instances of the word "nigger" were left intact.
Texas: Even more confusing after you've lived there for a few years.
I can vouch for that, it's true. What I specifically remember the is the old lady that says "Up yours, nigger" in response to Bart saying "Isn't it a lovely day" is edited to say "Outta my way, nigger." I really gotta wonder at this point if Gibson didn't come up with that TV edit himself as a jab at what wasn't passable when the n bomb was. If it's just Texas, well I can certainly believe that and appreciate how they inadvertently continued on his work even after the film was complete.
