zatojones - 2009-03-04 using the guy whose job it is to hold a sign as an example of the type of job reading the New York Times can get you is a bad idea
Ersatz - 2009-03-05 I had this same thing -- the Shaft theme taped from the opening credits -- on a driving mixtape back in high school. It had this, "Junkie Chase" from Superfly, "Eggman" off Paul's Boutique (which sampled the Superfly theme), clips from Pulp Fiction and Reservoir Dogs, and other requisite early-to-mid-90s pop culture.
We'd play that tape (or similar mixes of friends) when we'd be out cruising around on weekends and in the summer, looking for parties. It was the best when we could get the "Fine timepiece, brother? Goodbye!" line to happen right when the light turned green.
I'd pretty much forgotten about that tape until I heard this. I still know all the blind guy's lines. I can feel again the rush of excitement of getting a case of MGD from the liquor store in the ghetto, getting to a party and impressing the hot, popular girls. And the disappointment of not scoring with them.
