You know, I have kinda mixed feelings about Ramsay. On one hand I like some of his British shows and I've read two of his cookbooks. But, what kinda irks me about him is how he is always bringing up his childhood and his "working class" origins, yet no one from his working class origins could afford to eat at one of his restaurants. He spends his days wining and dining dipsy celebrities and engaging in the same kind of self-indulgent rockstar cook thing that he used to say is what initially drove him away from the French scene in his early years. I remember seeing an interview with him once at an opening at one of his restaurants where the reporter actually kind of pressed him on all this stuff and brought up how only the upper elite of the elite could get into his place, yet he bemoaned "stuffy, pretentious" restaurants and cooks. He just sort of laughed and danced around the question.
So...on one hand I like many aspects of what he's done as a chef, but on the other, he seems like he's kind of full of shit most of the time.
