Those christians look very hippy-ish.

Xiphias - 2008-11-19

why are these all being submitted anonymously?

with my gayified name as a tag.

Rodents of Unusual Size - 2008-11-18

I don't know how to feel about this...I am not sure if the evangelizing people were getting exactly what they came for or were just retarded enough not to foresee how very bad an idea it was at this particular juncture.

buttnutt - 2008-11-18

I remember after 9/11 a bunch of evangelicals went to Afghanistan to convert people and got captured. I think they got rescued by the army but I might be wrong.

kelpfoot - 2008-11-18

You're correct, and this is still ongoing. July 2007, some 23 _South Korean_ missionaries got captured by the Taliban.

charmlessman - 2008-11-18

Wow. What a colossally stupid move on those chrisitans' part. I'm pretty sure segregationists never went to Harlem in groups of 8 to tell black people they were inferior. What the fuck did those morons think would happen?

Oh, wait...

That's right, they're christians. They probably thought the holy spirit was going to follow them there and ungay all the fags.

SolRo - 2008-11-18

Christians can't think, prayer takes up all of what little brain power they have.

Meerkat - 2008-11-18

Needs LOLXIANS and 3DG3 tags.

phalsebob - 2008-11-18

So what you are saying is that all Christians are assholes, and that calling assholes out on their assholeness is an affectation.

Rodents of Unusual Size - 2008-11-18

I was just at a protest a couple of days ago and saw some typical yahoo fat rednecks with American flag ties yelling at all the queers and a Baptist preacher who got people yelling at him so he could basically make statements to the press that all gays were violent etc. I stepped in to talk theology with him (I'll probably LJ about this later over on Poe News) but I didn't want to give them what they came for, which was to make our cause look bad.

Unfortunately, across the street there was another Christian group that had set up to give clothes and food to the homeless. They were 7th Day Adventists and didn't have any idea that our protest would be going on. A LOT of the gays made unsolicited comments, or started yelling at these people, so the main guy got on asking if any of us wanted to come over for free food.

A lot of people reacted to this with real, visceral hatred. So I went over and investigated and had a really interesting talk with one of their leaders, who was Yes on 8, but I actually got him to think about the consequences and how it might negatively impact some people. He thought it was about redefining marriage but I got him to promise to at least read more about the issue and think about the real consequences (civil rights ie hospitals, parenting issues, etc). But I was literally the only one doing this, and there were hundreds of people there.

Helena Handbasket - 2008-11-18

ROUS please do post this over on POE-News.
I find such an experience interesting.

There are Christians out there doing actual "Christian-like" things and not just running around yelling the "death to fags, protect marriage" bs. BUT I can understand why the crowd would automatically react to any Christian with hatred; they're not exactly being represented by their fellows well.

Rodents of Unusual Size - 2008-11-18

I think it was an association thing and no one else bothered to really find out what was really going on, they just assumed. Which is more to my point that everyone is needing to calm down a bit and not feed into the same hate.

Helena Handbasket - 2008-11-18

Oh I would completley agree; anger just begets anger.
But I can understand why that anger is there.

It also makes me happy that that group was just there handing out food.

Rodents of Unusual Size - 2008-11-19

The entire thing is now over on my blog.

Cowboy Funk - 2008-11-18

Camonk - 2008-11-18

So were they escorted in? Did they suddenly see a gay and get scared and have to call the police? What arrogant shitheads.

mouser - 2008-11-18

Damn criquets.

Enjoy - 2008-11-18

Everyone who lives in The Castro has to carry a rape whistle.

Scrotum H. Vainglorious - 2008-11-18

Was any semen flung during this?

glasseye - 2008-11-18

by "Witnessing Christians" you really mean "gloating, hate-spreading bigots."

glasseye - 2008-11-18

also

William Batty - 2008-11-18

If these cops think they can scare away a crowd of hardcore Castro fags with threats of physical harm, they've never seen the videos.

I mean, these guys will take a man's entire forearm up their ass. You got anything on your belt that hurts that much, pig?

Dancing a-shirt fag at 4:29 wins.

cognitivedissonance - 2008-11-18

I thought St. Paul said to shake the dust off your sandals and never return in situations like that.

Steebis - 2008-11-18

I love living in San Francisco! The Castro Queens are our toughest Warriors gang.

simon666 - 2008-11-19

Uh, the Suranos down at 23rd and York are pretty tough. Although I think our Castro Queens can probably bench press more.

Paracelsus - 2008-11-18

And Sparky's is a fine dining establishment after boozing it up.

CornOnTheCabre - 2008-11-18

You know, back in the day, believers like this would be turned into pillars of salt for this type of girly shit.

CornOnTheCabre - 2008-11-18

I mean, needing secular authority to back up all of their political positions, not marryin dudes.

Cleaner82 - 2008-11-18

Damn right, used to be taking a beating for the Lord was a badge of honor. Used to be the more arrows you got shot with after they tied you to a stake, the quicker you got into heaven. Nowadays if you get water on your pantleg from stepping in a puddle it's time to go home, job well done Christian soldier.

Hooper_X - 2008-11-19

What I'd like to see is a counter-troll action. load up a bunch of screaming queens onto the goddamn Vengabus, set up across the street from Saddleback or somewhere similar, and then just have the biggest gayest awesomest dance party possible.

Camonk - 2008-11-19

An awesome party would win people over way more than preaching and condemning, too. Shit if I didn't already think homos should just marry each other and buy a dog or whatever they want to do, I would after going to a really badass party where dudes bring you drinks constantly because they are just very polite.

RockBolt - 2008-11-19

Shame on you! Shame on you!

Ouroboros - 2008-12-02
