We need to import a few of those deep-voiced Japanese announcers for our news programs. We'll trade them for CNN's hologram technology.

kingarthur - 2008-11-06

Oh god...the hologram crap.

baleen - 2008-11-06

The entire village of Obama, Japan must have shat their pants too.

Caminante Nocturno - 2008-11-06

Someone cosplayed as our president, and they did it as a compliment.

When was the last time that happened?

DMKA - 2008-11-06

A good deal of the world really likes Obama and wanted him to win.

I can't remember the last time many people outside our own country and Israel liked our president.

kingarthur - 2008-11-06

The Halloween immediately after Hurricane Katrina, there was a guy going around the French Quarter in a full body penis costume, his face covered by a George W. Bush mask, holding a sign that read "YOU'RE DOING A GREAT JOB, BROWNIE!!!"

Best. Costume. Ever.

However, people dressing as our president as a compliment is a new thing for me.

Unmerciful Crushing Force - 2008-11-07

To be fair, GWB has some substantial popularity in some of the African countries and Koreans seemed to like him enough.

The Townleybomb - 2008-11-06

Mirakuru!

Caminante Nocturno - 2008-11-06

Beam!

tak_a_je_to - 2008-11-06

Japanese glee is more adorable than other kinds of glee. Yes.

fluffy - 2008-11-06

"My name Obama! My name Obama!"

"Oh, is that right?"

[riotous applause]

Camonk - 2008-11-06

Whereas if there had, against all the rules of the Japanese language, been a Bush, Japan, they'd have changed their names. Every time pessimism starts weighing me down again, something like this will come up and I'll suddenly thinking Yeah, yeah, YES WE CAN HELL YEAH again.

Unmerciful Crushing Force - 2008-11-06

Beeepbeeep Weeaboo alert

That's what I love the most about this thing. The "subtitles" read Obama-san as saying "AM I OBAMA?!!?" with Mr. President Obama replying "You are Obama!!"

Oh Japan, your self-delusion is only toppled by your sheer nerve. YEAH HE DID.

major-_-turnon - 2008-11-06

yes. this.

Ageusiatic - 2008-11-06

Fauxbama!

gambol - 2008-11-06

:D

charmlessman - 2008-11-06

OK, someone please explain to me the Japanese need to always have someone else in a small screen in one of the corners?

Camonk - 2008-11-06

Japanese are primarily visual creatures, and audio cues are not enough to tell them how to feel or react. Without the face of one of their "alphas" to guide them, the screams and cheers of an audience will startle and frighten the average Japanese.

Harveyjames - 2008-11-06

Blimey

baleen - 2008-11-07

What Camonk said is kinda true. One thing I've noticed about being in the presence of Japanese people is that they laugh when everyone else is laughing or when it's appropriate to, whereas in America the "rules for laughing" are just as weird really.

Like if you're watching TV with an American it's considered weird to always look at other people to see how they are reacting, and downright creepy if you respond with them. In Japan you just let the laughter rip when whoever you're looking at is having a good time.

DMKA - 2008-11-06

YATTA! YATTA!

theSnake - 2008-11-06

Wow, Obama has defeated the racism of even Japan, the most racist country of all.

DMKA - 2008-11-07

Eh, maybe not the most racist, but certainly the most xenophobic. In the developed world at least.

Udderdude - 2008-11-06

Oh Japan.

Lauritz Melchior - 2008-11-06

I thought that the announcer said "You many mother retard" at the beginning.
