Always five stars for King's Quest!

I can't get into this game. The main characters are too old.

Getting killed for and by nearly everything is what made adventure games so fun.

This seems to be part of a series.

where is the king and why isn't he on a quest

I remember one of these games...in one of the puzzles, there was one of those classic "wall slowly comes falling down on you" things and you had to throw something in the gears to stop it. You could use either a skull or a brick (I might be wrong)...of course, you had to use the brick or you'd get smashed.

But there was nothing quite like punching yourself first thing in the morning in the Hitchhiker's Guide text adventure game.

Fuck you, Roberta Williams.

That's the small difference between Lucasarts' games and others: Since the characters have the ability to do stuff and communicate without the player... They also have enough common sense not to do something stupid that would kill them, even if asked.

Xenocide - 2008-10-09

Roberta Williams knew her games would make many players want to kill themselves, so she built the feature right in. Handy!

I remember being very excited about getting PC games back when my parents got our first 286 or 386 or whatever it was... I mean, it was YEARS past Atari, and it was fancier than a Nintendo, SURELY it had to be great, right?

I ended up with three games for the thing - a Star Trek 25th Anniversary thing, Leisure Suit Larry 2 (which was already on it) and a PC game adaptation of Stephen King's The Dark Half.

I didn't touch another PC game until DOOM.
