The first few PiL albums are what I always imagined the Sex Pistols would sound like if John/ny Lydon/Rotten had more creative control.
A lot of the songs, he actually wrote when he was still in the Pistols.

I can see why they broke up, the other musicians (Jones and Cook) just wanted to play old fashioned rock'n'roll. I think Johnny said "Submission" was as close as they ever came to what he wanted the Pistols to sound like. Their next album would have been good.

I can't quite understand it.. he meant to be grating and anti-pop, but it's still really good. Suppose that's his point. Plus, early PiL only sounds like early PiL. You can tell in the first second "This must be old PiL." And I like it.

If you haven't, read Lydon's autobio, no matter if you like him or hate him. Oh, it is an honest and catty piece of work. You'll love it.

It's like Frank Zappa's "The Real Frank Zappa Book"---you don't even have to like him to enjoy the book.
