It was an amusing concept, but every episode is made up of spotlight speeches where talking heads spend 30 minutes talking about how they just totally outsmarted the other guy through a retarded plot device.

Kind of like Dragon Ball Z, minus the shouting.

this series was great but there's a definite point you should just stop watching (spoiler: it's when L dies, the theme becomes replaced with Wapanese System of a Down and two precocious tykes appear out of nowhere)

The stuff with Near was pretty dumb but it was redeemed to a certain degree by the ending. And there were good things in there. I'd say it was more compelling than the Yotsuba plot at least.
