Smellvin  - 2008-09-10 It will. I'd recommend that you strongly consider not buying it. The game is pretty and somewhat innovative (in that it's not exactly like every other game coming out). However, it's extremely simplistic and seems like it was aimed at eight-year-olds. The gameplay is repetitive, easy, and I found it boring.
The creature creator is the most entertaining part, but after the "let's run around and eat stuff or play a stupid mini-game to make friends" phase, all that customization means zip.

If you are like me, and want a little gameplay to go along with the object and creature editor, then I'd pass.

I think we should have all realized this game was going to blow hard the minute: a) Will Wright said that it was aimed at "casual gamers" and b) we first heard the game was going to be five or six mini-games in sequence.

Herr Matthias - 2008-09-10 A "digital toy" that you "make what you will of it" implies an open-ended, non-linear environment where experimentation and alternate approaches are encouraged. Not qualities that I associate with Spore.

Christ, people, it'd be fine if you were bitching because the game is bad, but it isn't. It just isn't the type of game you want it to be. TETRIS SUCKS BECAUSE IT'S NOT A FIRST-PERSON SHOOTER.
Still, four stars because that narrator is annoying.

I think my favorite thing about Spore is how the developers did that smug, pretentious thing of "Oh man, there's NO WAY you'll see this on a CONSOLE!! This is a complex PEE-CEE game for a totally different crowd!!" and it turns out to have as much depth and complexity as an XBLA game. (less in some cases)
