I have a book about kimono and they make a lot of mention of undergarments with "magic tape" (for example, a kimono slip with long sleeves that you can detach and attach with "magic tape"). It took me the longest time to figure out what the hell "magic tape" exactly was.

When I finally did, I was a little embarrassed, but not nearly as embarrassed as I was recently when I realized that "Alucard" is "Dracula" spelled in reverse.

So Magic Tape is just what those wacky Japanese people call Velcro. it makes sense in context.
