Parody as been dead ever since we started paying attention to how ludicrous real life is.
I'd say you're on to something, but this is the show responsible for making a lot of us pay attention to this very thing, and that's goooood parody.
Stewart had a deer-in-the-headlights look when his audience actually seemed to like the moveon ad, but he went ahead and made fun of it anyway. That had to take guts.
