AWESOME. Needs an "incredibly crass" tag, though.

KnowFuture - 2007-12-04

Le T.V. Go!!!!!

Let V Go!!!!!

Adramelech - 2007-12-04

It's mindblowing to not only rip off a product, but virtually the entire advertising campaign spot for spot.

Randroid - 2007-12-04

This is the stuff of legends.

Camonk - 2007-12-04

It's better than what the Chinese usually do, which is completely rip off a product's name, logo and store and just put up an entire store and say, What? What are you gonna do about it?

Aelric - 2007-12-04

what is amazing is that they bother advertising at all. only two percent of the country could afford one.

crote - 2007-12-04

That's roughly the population of Spain.

longwinded - 2007-12-04

*This* is a ZING!

Andonyx - 2007-12-04

I realize this will cement my status as a callous, obese American, but I am curious. Although I've actually been to several cities in China, I never really spent any time in private homes. Are they that spartan? Or did they just figure no point in spending a lot of cash to decorate a fake commercial apartment.

Killer Joe - 2007-12-04

A lot of poor-er places are choked with junk, so they are trying to show that these guys can afford a storage unit, all thanks to having the kids play games where they move some.
The weird thing is you can get pirated console games over there for literally a buck, but getting legit (as far as being actually able to play the games) hardware is really, really hard to do with the newer gear. So they probably have all the Wii disks a week after they are released, but no way to play em, thus the knock offs.

Camonk - 2007-12-04

That's not entirely true, at least in the richer south. All the places I go to buy the 50 cent bootlegs also have the hardware. Back when Wiis were in horribly short supply in the States, I could've listed seven or eight places here where you could walk in and buy one. The Chinese just often don't care if it's legit, which is why finding bootleg games is easy, like ten places to go buy them in one city that I know of, where as I could tell you one place in a ritzy shopping district to find the real thing.

But there is a lot of knockoff hardware. Lots of PSP-alikes, I've seen a few DS-like things. This is the first big console I've seen ripped off. I wish it would say how much they're charging, so I could compare it with actual Wii prices.

zatojones - 2007-12-04

I wonder how well they work

zatojones - 2007-12-04

Oh man... this thing can only play the games that are built into it including Happy Tennis, Catch Fish, Bowling, Alacrity Golf, Table Tennis, Smart Dart, Fry Egg, Bird Knight, Fever Move, Come On, Fantasy Baseball and Free Craps. I bet Alacrity Golf is fun.

rastarat - 2007-12-04

Wii Tennis is still my favorite Wii game. Also that table tennis girl looks like she could wipe the floor with me.

Xiphias - 2007-12-04

"Alacrity Golf"

Roachbud - 2007-12-04

-1 star for the Yankees hat and the fact that advertisement announcers are annoying all around the world.

Xenocide - 2007-12-04

All this AND graphics to rival your Atari Jaguar!

mouser - 2007-12-04

Fuck I hate China. The only thing good to ever come out of there is their women.

Roachbud - 2007-12-04

and lo mein

Eroticus E - 2007-12-04

It's startling insight like this that keeps me coming back to PoeTV. Please, don't kill yourself today.

futurebot - 2007-12-04

YEAH THIS COMMERCIAL MAKES ME HATE THE 1.3 BILLION PEOPLE OF CHINA

K Clobber - 2007-12-04

rating for your comment.

just don't marry one. oh jeez, don't make that mistake.

Oh jeez.

Unmerciful Crushing Force - 2007-12-04

Fuck you for reminding of Still Too Soon Heartbreak. YEAH MOTHERFUCKER THAT'S RIGHT THAT'S WHAT YOU GET FOR BREAKING INTERNET STRANGER'S HEARTS. :~~~(

I love token foreigner man there.

fluffy - 2007-12-04

They even cloned Cooking Mama. That's thorough!

j lzrd / swift idiot - 2007-12-04

This gets better as it goes. The chinky kid who knows how to say "yay" and "yeah" reminds me of the exuberant Nintendo 64 kid.

glasseye - 2007-12-04

I love how they just show the same half dozen game segments over and over again, while trying to maintain excitement.

K Clobber - 2007-12-04

holy shit. was grandpa playing the 'catch a fly with chopsticks' game?

i am not joking. that is actually what it looked like.

Whoops!

Ahriman the Creepy Lurker - 2007-12-04

Honestly, that's a bigger circuit board than I expected it to have.

Emcee - 2007-12-04

Actual shot of the opened Vii hardware: http://aycu17.webshots.com/image/34976/2004674227725309033_rs.jpg

pastorofmuppets - 2009-03-23

Ever seen the inside of a NES cartridge? Smaller'n a postage stamp!

But seriously all the videos are down, so if you want to see this thing you have to settle for that annoyingly condescending British guy that does all the hardware knockoff unboxing.

baleen - 2007-12-04

I play a lot of poker at this Irish bar near my apartment, which means I buy a lot of Bee playing cards, the most popular American poker playing card brand.

All the 99cent stores on Manhattan Ave. are run by Chinese people, and it's knockoff heaven at these places. Among their pilfered brand names are "Bii Playing Cards," they even have the audacity to say that they are made by the American Playing Card Co. and are made in Missouri. The cards wrinkle up at the slightest touch.

I do not like China.

yeahjim - 2007-12-05

I was watching a documentary about this sort of thing. The interviewer was speaking with a low-ranking Chinese official about the rampant bootlegging and flagrant disregard for any sort of intellectual property rights in China.

The guy just shrugged it away with a smile. They translated his response as something like, "This is the next Opium War, and this time we are going to win." Gave me a little chill.

j lzrd / swift idiot - 2008-06-27

HOOOO-hohoHOly shit, NOW THAT is a terrifying chill.

Wow... And it lasts a good minute.
