This is the worst episode of South Park in recent memory. And the Heroin Hero joke doesn't really pay off until the Rehab Hero joke comes in. +1 for Stan's Dad, who should have his own tag.

Azmo23 - 2007-11-09

The heroin hero joke pays off with the dragon in the forest. rehab hero and the rockstar lifestyle pastiche sucked. this episode was awful, but stan's dad's yell in this scene evoked a nostalgic longing for the time when my dad was still alive and lounging in the den in his tightey whiteys full of fury. he was full of fury, i never inquired what the tightey whiteys were full of.

Quad9Damage - 2007-11-09

The whole episode was basically one joke about video game simulations substituting real life. But I thought it was a *funny* joke. + 1 star because I found myself saying "Chase me! Chase me!" in the high pitched dragon voice a few days after the episode aired... er, in private.

IrishWhiskey - 2007-11-09

It was an okay episode, but this was the funniest joke.

Big Beef Burritos Supreme - 2007-11-09

Well, I like the joke...

You guys are crazy. Best episode ever.

remag2117 - 2007-11-09

I have a feeling the haters of these jokes are guitar hero players or fans who felt this episode struck a little too close to home (and will probably have a fallout similar to that which the WoW episode produced).

This episode pretty much nailed it.

drcrypt - 2007-11-09

I love WoW. I loved the WoW episode. I thought it was extremely clever and well done.

I also love Guitar Hero. I hated the Guitar Hero episode. I thought it was a sloppy out-of-ideas episode with a central joke ("Kids play Guitar Hero and go through all the fame, drugs and internal strife as real musicians!") that wasn't too funny to begin with, then stretched on for twenty minutes longer than the time I could justify cracking a weak smile.

Xiphias - 2007-11-09

If you don't think this was simutlaneously an advertisement for Guitar Hero and an episode specifically targeting die-hard Guitar Hero episodes you have another thing coming.

"a fallout similar to that which the WoW episode produced"? Are you dumb? They advertised the south park episode on the WoW website. They sell the southpark DVD through the WoW website. WoW players were quoting this episode non-stop for over a month.

Xiphias - 2007-11-09

"specifically targeting die-hard Guitar Hero episodes"
= "specifically targeting die-hard Guitar Hero fans"

remag2117 - 2007-11-13

Hmm. I think someone here wasn't playing a lot of WoW back in the day the episode aired.

So it begins . . .

coprolalia - 2007-11-09

Funniest twenty-minute commercial I've seen in a while.

Maggot Brain - 2007-11-09

The better clip from the episode is when Stan's dad plays the song on a real guitar. This is still good too.

Aelric - 2007-11-09

and youtube yanks it. why can't we have nice things?

fluffy - 2007-11-09

I have not seen this episode, and I do not play Guitar Hero. Too bad the clip is down or else I could rate it on its own merit.

baleen - 2007-11-09

Broken link. That didn't take long.

theSnake - 2007-11-09

I hate south park but I watched this episode because there was nothing else on. It was tolerable because it wasn't chock full of Libertarian pretensiousness, but mostly not funny. I laughed at the beginning when Stans dad played the real guitar, and the end when the game called them fags for getting such a high score.

Roachbud - 2007-11-09

Goddamn Viacom lawsuit making YouTube anal about "intellectual property"

1394 - 2007-11-09

YOU! ARE! FAGS!

svraz - 2007-11-10

Mom is that you?

Aubrey McFate - 2007-11-18

God dammit.
