Brilliant... roll on Oct 10 so that space that Portal and HL2:EP2 is taking up on my HDD isn't wasted!
But when and how did EA get their grubby little mitts on this? It's just not right!!

Merzbau - 2007-10-08

So sad this isn't coming out on Tuesday like every other game in the world. But, on the plus side, I don't have class Wednesday nights, so I can burn me some red team fuckers in TF2 all night long.

(Is it weird that Episode 2 is by far the least interesting of the three games to me? And I REALLY LIKE Half-Life's plot...)

HURF BLURF DUH - 2007-10-08

TF2 is already a huge hit (my team's first league match is tonight), I can't imagine how many MORE players and servers there will be after Weds. Can't wait for Portal. Like Merz said, HL2:E2 is surprisingly under the radar as a result of these other two games, but I bet that's pretty damn good too, though I hope it's just a little bit meatier than E1.

Merzbau - 2007-10-08

From what I've read, that seems to be the case- reviewers are pegging it as around two hours longer, and thanks to PC Gamer, who partially spoiled the ending (thanks, assholes) it seems like the plot tie-in with Portal is pretty neat.

Tyrathca - 2007-10-08

Yeah from what I hear, when you play Portal you won't find out jack shit about it, you end up finding it all out in HL2:EP2.
Weird.

theSnake - 2007-10-08

I don't know what spoilers you are talking about for Ep 2 so please keep it that way for those of us who don't read about videogames all the time thanks.

Merzbau - 2007-10-08

Trust me, I have no interest in spoiling anything; all I'm referring to is Valve's constant reminders that yes, Portal is part of the Half-Life story, and yes, you'll find out how it fits in if you play the Orange Box games. If you don't want to know the how and why, which is the OOH MYSTERIOUS bit, stay away from the PC Gamer that's on newsstands now; I wish I had.

Thatcher Pennywhistle - 2007-10-08

If there was any justice in the world this would sell twice as many copies as Halo 3. But there is no justice in the world: EA is publishing it.

Xenocide - 2007-10-08

"What's inside the Orange Box? The greatest game of all time."

Huh. That's some pretty odd Zelda 1 footage.

Afgh - 2007-10-08

More confusingly, Chet said Left 4 Dead would be the best game we'd play this year, and now it's not coming out until 2008.

I DON'T KNOW WHAT TO BELIEVE ANYMORE

Hooker - 2007-10-08

Seriously, how did EA sneak in on this?

Chet - 2007-10-08

EA distributes the games for us. And look at it this way for someone watching TV, when you see the EA logo, you know what is going to follow is a video game. If you saw the valve logo, you would just be confused and the commercial would have to spend time explaining what that was. The EA is shorthand for what is going to follow is a video game.

Chet

FABIO2 - 2007-10-08

Were the playstation and xbox logos taken?

Hooker - 2007-10-09

Right. My question is more "What happened to Vivendi/Sierra?" and less "How is Valve letting people know this is is a video game?"

FABIO2 - 2007-10-08

I thought Half Life 2 on my 5 year old computer looked great. Then when I see footage of it running on top machines I get sad =(

fluffy - 2008-03-31

It looks incredible on PS3.

If at first you don't succeed, you fail, and the test will be terminated.

Now you're thinking with portals.
