A nice change from the clichés which had gotten utterly ridiculous by the Brosnan era.

Though I never thought a club could cause a sucking chest wound.

PegLegPete - 2007-07-27

I felt like I was on mushrooms in the theater.

William Burns - 2007-07-27

I felt like I'd had one too many bottles of cought syrup.

Afgh - 2007-07-27

I did have too many bottles of cough syrup, so imagine how I felt.

Gill_Sans - 2007-07-27

Oh After Effects, is there anything you can't do?

Angel Carver - 2007-07-27

Daniel Craig made me gay.

Afgh - 2007-07-27

If Daniel Craig made me gay I didn't notice, because Eva Green pulled me back in the other direction with twice as much force.

Angel Carver - 2007-07-27

OMG same! Except then, Daniel Craig kissed the blood off Eva Green's fingertips, and I was gay all over again.

Cube - 2007-07-27

The video part is good, but I always though the song is a bit weak when compared to the best Bond themes.

jmags - 2007-07-27

I agree that the song is kind of weak. On the other hand, there was the rest of the movie.

Emcee - 2007-07-27

I actually rather like the song, and obviously the visuals, but thought if the poker scenes were any longer, the actual movie would have lost me.

cheesein - 2007-07-27

You take this intro sequence and tack on the ever popular Spy Who Loved Me theme and you get...a headache most likely...

Cleaner82 - 2008-07-26

I actually really like this song, but the orchestra behind it makes it, and you can't find that version anywhere outside the actual movie intro.

KnowFuture - 2007-07-27

SOMEBODY FINALLY GOT SPY/POP-ART/PSYCHADELIA + CGI RIGHT!

Frame this.

Now: was the movie itself any good?
I avoided it because of my love for the 1968 trainwreck by the same name, and not being the biggest post-Sean Connery Bond fan.

Pandatronic - 2007-07-27

It was sublime; over 3 hours long and not an overly dull moment to be found. Unless you're overly beardy about James Bond and feel the rage rising at the fact that there's no Q and the only real gadget is a portable defibrilator, you'll probably have a blast.

Operation Cornflakes - 2007-07-27

Go out and watch this movie, NOW. We'll wait.

Xiphias - 2007-07-27

The movie is excellent and it does not fit the tone or style of the introduction at all.

Vicious - 2007-08-11

The whole damn movie was one overly-dull moment.

SharoKham - 2007-09-14

Actually, if you're a real Bond beard, this movie will appeal to you for reconciling the literary Bond, the cinematic Bond, and the fact that keeping a character as a static parody of himself since the late 60s really doesn't work when that character's meant to be cool and cutting edge as a motherfucker.

And considering what we went through with Brosnan's intros, I couldn't find fault with this one if I tried, but I like psychedelica anyway.

Namor - 2007-07-27

That intro is sexy.

garcet71283 - 2007-07-27

I stand by the claim that this is the best Bond movie since Connery left the official franchise. In alot of ways, it was better than many of his as well.

Lothar - 2007-07-27

AWESOME BOND INTRO!!!! (This is the first time I turned up the volume to full blast on my computer!) I consider myself a Bond movie intro conniseur. They are always my favorite part of the movie.

By contrast, the worst Bond movie intro was "For Your Eyes Only". It was just a Sheena Easton music video. Seriously. It was just her singing, walking around in a ton of white smoke. It deserves to be uploaded here as a terrible tragedy. This intro though, should be given an Oscar.

Pandatronic - 2007-07-27

Oh yeah, what song is this?

takewithfood - 2007-07-28

"You Know My Name" by Chris Cornell (formerly of Soundgarden, Audioslave).

Hooper_X - 2007-07-28

That's awesome, but it's no Thunderball. (Thunderball, of course, being the high water mark for Bond themes.)

bopeton - 2007-08-02

Live and Let Die? That's a good theme.

Best Bond opening ever. Good film, too.

vecctor - 2007-08-17

One of the best openings for Bond. Though I am not a big fan of them in general, I liked this one.

+1 for use of fractals? Ok, too geeky, I know.

Pie Boy - 2007-09-09

Guess what? Both Daniel Craig and Eva Green are going to be in the Golden Compass movie.

Happy happy.

RockBolt - 2007-11-03

And fundies have a huge hate on for Golden Compass, hat trick!

This intro is awesome, and I actually really dig the single version of this song (slightly different instrumental)

crote - 2007-09-19

5 stars for use of spirograph technology.

j lzrd / swift idiot - 2008-07-02

I have a new movie to watch.

Damn that was a nice intro.

Baby Finster - 2008-08-03

This is easily in the top three best Bond movies. Partly for Daniel Craig, and partly because they stopped pussyfooting around the fact that James Bond is a borderline-sociopathic murder-machine badass.
