Gunny McRifleson - 2024-05-20 Just skip all the setup if you already know the basics and go to the parts where it fails.

In before JHM makes it creepy.
|
Nominal - 2024-05-19 I also recommend her video on Evermore, the fantasy LARP theme park in the middle of nowhere, run by a wannabe Richard Garriot techbro who thought running a park would be easy.

Cena_mark - 2024-05-19 Agreed. This is the perfect type of video to really give the house a good cleaning to.

Nominal - 2024-05-19 Vampire Diaries and the worst ghost hunting show are also good episodes.

I'm about half way through. In the opening minutes she makes some jabs at Six Flags. I don't get why Disney dorks hate Six Flags. I get that Six Flags doesn't really get into theming, but folks like me don't give a shit about theming and just want to ride some badass coasters. One thing Six Flags won't do is wreck your bank account like Disney will. This thing is a total ripoff. 6 thousand for a two night stay. This is hardly a premium experience. They seated her behind a pillar for dinner show.

Really does seem like it was set up to fail.

Working my way through it, comments as I go:
-Holy shit the tiny cruise ship rooms for a building hotel? For the excuse that it's supposed to resemble a cruise ship? When in fact it's even smaller than what the same price would get you on a cruise ship?
-In order to watch Disney stuff on the in-room TVs, you have to log into an existing paid Disney+ account? What?? WHAT?!!!!!! Holy fucking shit. $3000/person and they couldn't even give you 2 nights of included Disney+? Fucking...christ.
|
Cena_mark - 2024-05-21 She talked about this photography package that was like $160 where photographers would be around the hotel and you could later download the photos, but Disney created a more exclusive personal photoshoot package that cost more and used up all the photographers. So the youtuber and others who bought the cheaper package had very few pictures of themselves. She said she initially tried to get a refund through normal routes and got nothing back, and could only get a refund when she flexed her influencer resources.

Nominal - 2024-05-23 How are paid souvenir photo packages even still a thing in the age of smartphones?
More stuff:
-Dinner music show pole dance
-$ 120/hr to scan crates!
|
Cena_mark - 2024-05-23 They assume guests will be too busy to take photos and enjoy having their pictures taken by professionals
This is inventory. You're paying to do inventory.

Nominal - 2024-05-23 Finished it.
I haven't been to a Disney park since 2000. Mind boggling how they nickle & dime everything now, yet retain the old all inclusive prices.
Even crazier how this hotel was supposed to be ripping out all the premium experiences from Galaxy's Edge and putting them behind an obscene paywall, but everything STILL feels cheap and cost cutting. These are all mindless distraction activities you'd do during your day at a park for a $150 day pass. For fuck's sake, banging on your door at 8am telling you to get out? That's a flophouse hostel experience, not a 3 grand per night premium luxury hotel. For that price, each guest should be assigned their own Rey/Leia/Twi'lek dressed hooker.
They justify everything by saying it's supposed to be like a cruise, but it's all the downsides of a cruise (cramped rooms, limited space) with none of the upsides like exotic ports of call, pools, or say...SUNLIGHT. The choice of standard cruise ship activities far outdoes what this offers.
They focused everything on the stupid LARP shit, and they quarter-assed all the LARP shit. A text message app? That doesn't even work? QR codes? No affecting the environment? That's something fucking Howard Johnson's could have put together. It's sub-Escape Rooms experiences you can get for $35.
