I would still do this, even though it's in a lake and not the ocean.

"Jaws" came out when I was 5, although I wouldn't be allowed to watch it until I was 10 and a heavily-edited version came on network television. Even before "Jaws" I was in love with all things oceanic, including sharks.

I still watch "Jaws" every year before my first visit to the beach for summer.

I saw Jaws when I was a kid. I'm uneasy in a swimming pool.

I was a weird kid, I guess. I was less worried about sharks at the beach and more concerned with undertow.

The latter hardly ever hurt people, but we would lose about 4 or 5 people to the former every year.

Well, I totally fucked that up.

Swapped "former" and "latter" around.

Durrr...

Went on a lake holiday a few days after seeing Jaws for the first time as a kid, constantly "saw" sharks out of the corners of my eyes. That movie definitely triggers something instinctive.

I guess I was lucky in that I learned about sharks when I was young and got to see live sharks in both captivity and in the wild before "Jaws" turned them into "monsters" in the public eye.
