Same here. This is the closest I've come to watching a Harry Potter movie. Harry Potter sucks. Fuck Harry Potter and the new Harry Potter in New York movies.

Harry Potter's alright. The poor little orphan boy flies a car, wins the big game, and stops an evil teacher in time for graduation. The first one is a cute kids' movie and the later ones are whimsical YA adventure-melodramas. There's nothing overtly bad about Harry Potter unless you're a pedant who needs fantasy worlds to play by a set of rules, or you're an insufferable hipster who makes it a point to loudly tell everyone that you don't like [popular thing].

All that said, this is still the best way to watch it.

And the obligatory fuck JK Rowling. Why someone would burn decades of public good will for no good reason is beyond me, but then again I don't have an ego the size of the Harry Potter franchise.

Was it meant to be for 7 year olds? Can people age 7-25 just not take anything heavier, or at least less nonsensical anymore?

What annoys me about the franchise is it just wasn't a bunch of books little kids enjoyed, tons of adults got into it. They not only got into it, it became a lifestyle. Nobody who grew up loving Narnia or Prydain submitted themselves to anything as embarrassing as real life Quidditch. Was it because the series' popularity happened right as the internet was taking off?


(The Sorcerer's Stone was such a blatant ripoff of School of Wizardry, I'm surprised Debra Doyle (RIP 2020) and James Macdonald never tried to sue)
