He’s a complete and total prick. This may destroy the company’s plans to go public, so hopefully he gets fired and then sued by investors.

Investors will see his utter lack of humanity as a plus.

Not when they’re losing millions from a failed SPAC or a severely devalued one.

When money is involved everyone is expendable to investors.

he starts by talking about the impact this will have on him, using the words "I" and "my" six times

My heart bleeds for him, truly.

That was the first thing I noticed too.

That's a big thing I've noticed watching true crime interrogation videos: psychopathic murderers will ALWAYS turn it all around to be about them and how they're the suffering victim.

Marty McFly got fired with more dignity in Back to the Future 2.

That's funny because that is literally the first thought that came to my mind as soon as I saw this video, was that memorable scene.

Submitter/submission synergy

I got laid off at the beginning of the pandemic, completely out of the blue. My boss surprised me in my office, chitchatted about this new coronavirus and the frantic run on toilet paper, and then circled around to tightening budgets. Suddenly my whole body was numb. I don't even remember what was said, but as soon as I understood what the conversation was about I wanted it to be over. In that moment, I didn't want condolences or explanations -- I didn't want to be near another human being. I just wanted out and gone.

In the days that followed, the thought that haunted me was that it was JUST me, that I was the only one who got shitcanned like this. Later I found out that wasn't true, and it gave me some relief. This wasn't personal, this wasn't about my ability or character, it was just about balancing some fucking spreadsheet somewhere.

What I'm saying is that being fired by an impersonal video message alongside 900 other people isn't actually the worst way to go. I might have actually preferred this to the mournful sweetalk I had to fake my way through while mentally calculating how many months until I lost my house.
