1. Asimov
So, the foundation books are crap.
Maybe it will make an entertaining drama tv show tho? who knows.
Like almost all of Asimov's work is basically shit, they are almost pure drama or detective novels, except for 'The gods themselves' which is ons of the best sci-fi books ever. It feels like it ghost written or something lol. Fair fucks to him if he really did write it.
2. Greg Egan
Do you know the author Greg Egan? Just discovered him and he's one of the best sci-fi authors I've discovered in many years. Eg. his orthogonal series of books taking place in a universe where, rather than three dimensions of space and one of time, there are four fundamentally identical dimensions. The characters (they are mainly physicists) will actually discuss the physics of their universe with diagrams lol.
3. Raised by Wolves
This trailer has given me 'Raised by Wolves' PTSD. Did any'all watch it? I did. And I feel bitter about it, what a waste of hours of my life. I reckon I got a taste for how 'Lost' viewers feel. I feel like I was scammed.
Basically episode 1 is great. It is packed with content, many mysteries and unexplained things are introduced, also a crazy momentous event happens at the end. At the end, as the viewer you will almost certainly be hungry for answers and to watch more.
The subsequent episode are super slow and don't really introduce or reveal anything, they feel like filler, but I kept watching as I was still anticipating the answers to mysteries introduced in episode 1. Then towards the end a load more mad shit happens, but none of it really makes any sense and you realise.. oh no.. they were just writing total nonsense and making it up as they went along.

Hazelnut - 2021-07-29 Asimov has some good short stories: The Last Question fucking rocks. So does Nightfall, C-Chute, The Fun They Had, The Billiard Ball. His Foundation and Robot books are juvenile, but damn were they fun to read around age twelve.

I'm glad I stopped watching raised by wolves three episodes in.. I'm pretty good at taste making(supposedly never picked out a bad movie when walking to the rental store for my parents.. but who knows how true that is 🤣🤣) so my instincts are generally good.

Ohhhhh joy. We can FINALLY add 'Foundation' to the modern pukefest pantheon of modern "re-imaginings" like Star Trek Beyond, The Last Jedi, Blade Runner 2049 and Dune 2020/21, to name an egregious few. I was so hoping they'd lay the fuck off of this one beloved series of BOOKS. But no, of course not. The unfilmable needs to be filmized, degraded for profit and ego, warped into glossy, over-styled, dumbed-down, pretentious, soul-sucking, creativeless echoes of the original incarnation; and this SHITSHOW in particular captures absolutely none of the splendor, flavor, wit, whimsy and daring of the source material - that much is obvious. And visually it looks utterly flat and lifeless compared to Asimov's descriptive prose. I'd rather be waterboarded to death than subjected to this feeble abomination.

Mr. Purple Cat Esq. - 2021-07-29 Maybe I should read foundation again.. I read some of them a long time ago (like coupla' decades). After reading most of arthur c clarke's works and having my mind blown (turns out he is basically my favourite fiction author) I found asimov (the other *giant* of sci-fi) to be extremely disappointing. Foundation were basically fantasy books imo, not sci-fi. They could have been set in historical times without really affecting the story as far as I remember.
Though I also vaguely remember that they had engrossing enough stories for me to finish them, and I suppose they were well written too though I dont remember.

His writing was watery treacle and his ideas came out of a can of thought that had expired 30 years prior.
This ain't exactly like Paul Haggis adapting García Lorca or Steven Spielberg doing Stanislav Lem.

decoy - 2021-07-29 Can't speak to the sexual accusations - if that's what they are - but not to acknowledge the acclaim, impact and longevity of the series seems willfully contrarian; especially considering that the underlying theme of mathematical sociology, which girds the entire series, is magnitudes more relevant today than when these books were first published.

2049 was a colossal bomb. Foundation is a widely regarded piece of sci-fi literary history, so your personal insults (why, need a therapeutic device today?), do nothing to cover up your lack of a point, and neither do awkwardly applied buzzwords like "gatekeeping."

Hazelnut - 2021-07-30 You’re almost certainly right, but sometimes trailers are worse than the movie / series. I remember once expecting the LotR movie to stink because the trailer emphasised a few cringe lines like “even the smallest creature can change the course of history”.
