I always wondered how something as "toned down" as Invincible managed to land at Image Comics.

The Boys TV show is much better than the comic, mostly by removing all the Garth Ennis from it.

Both are great.

To each their own. The Boys comes off like it was force-written by a 14-year-old edgelord at some 4chan Guantanamo Bay.

A: "No pizza rolls until you come up with a name for the Nazi witch with zap powers. Remember, the big reveal is that she's a Nazi."

B: "Um... Stormfront. Can I have pizza rolls now?"

A: "Brilliant, have at them."

B: "..wait, these are Dollar Store pizza r.."

A: "SHUT UP AND WATCH INCEST PORN"

In the comic, Stormfront was a man born an actual citizen of Nazi Germany, with the German eagle as his costume emblem. His Nazism was never secret.

Every single Garth Ennis character is either a raging mass murdering psychopath, an over the top sex fiend, or both!

The romance subplot was really bad and the girlfriend was a poorly developed character in Invincible.

Huey is pretty much completely unnecessary by the second season. He doesn't have an arc, and his role as the "conscience" could just be filled by Starlight.

Both shows are good in large part due to the strength of their villains.

I like the show, but the choice of recognizable actors for the voice work is bugging me. The performances are good, but it's distracting because you're always hearing J.K. Simmons or Gillian Jacobs instead of the characters.

The worst though is Jason Mantzoukas. He's constantly over the top annoying. His character wasn't that grating in the comic book, so I can only guess that Kirkman gave him a blank check to reenact all his WACKY How Did This Get Made routines.
